The process of manually entering your Gmail contacts in the
address book of your Windows Mobile smartphone can be time consuming. In fact,
this process even more frustrating if you regularly move from one device to
another. Fortunately, the sync option in most smartphones, including Windows
Mobile devices, makes it easier for you to use your Gmail contacts for
different platforms. In Windows Mobile devices, this option made possible by
Google Sync. Google recommends to make sure that you back up all contacts and
calendars from your phone to your computer before continuing.
1. Start the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync application on
the Home screen of your Windows Mobile device.
2. Choose "Set your device to sync",
"m.google.com" in the "Server Address" field, select
"This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" and choose
"Next."
3. Enter your Gmail credentials in the "User Name"
and "Password" box, leave the "domain" box unchanged. If an
error occurs due to the abandonment of the "Domain" field is blank,
enter "Google" box.
4. Select "Next", select the "Contacts",
click "Finish" and then click the "Sync" softkey. You have
enabled the synchronization of your Gmail contacts on your Windows Mobile
device.
