What is up is one of the two power amps is blown... I know this problem... It is USUALLY the rearmost channel which goes to the left Speakon faacing the back. Weak insulation between layers of the multilayer circuit board arcs and fries three transistors and a diode and sometimes a few more components. It takes a lot of skill to restore the module and is beyond most repair shops. A whole new module costs about $155 from Full Compass. The amp is an HCA2400 module, but you MAY need the Behringer part number to order it from Full Compass. Also please read my tip on Fixya for PMP mixers regarding the hazard when using 1/4 inch plugs from the Speakon connectors... the Channel A sleeve is the "hot", not the tip and if you ground the sleeve, goodbye channel A...

I have this mixer and I am curious to what you mean by "Ground The Sleeve"?

  • Fred Yearian Oct 22, 2012

If you use a Speakon to 1/4 inch speaker cable, one of the channels has the sleeve of the 1/4 inch as ground and the tip as the hot lead... HOWEVER the othe channel is the opposite. If something grounds that sleeve on that channel the amp will fry. The sleeve is the barrel of the 1/4 inch plug and sometimes they have a metal cover as well and it is easy to have something that is grounded touch this and blow the amp.

Fred, thanks so much for that explanation, this last comment explains the trouble I've been having with my churches sound system. i sent back 2 pmp 1000 to the manufacturer now thinking i was getting defective ones, however at our church the 1/4 speaker plugs are mounted in a single metal plate where they go into the wall im not sure who set it up like that but i will definitely be changing that now. Thanks a bunch

I have my pc hooked via 1/8" to 1/4' to my europower pmp518m and my sound is very low, but my mics are very loud (need music loud also)

The 1/8 jackon the PC is Stereo so you would need a stereo splitter to then go into separate jacks or maybe tape input on the PMP. Plugging in a mono jack shorts out one side of the PC audio out. Make sure you use a splitter type and NOT a 1/8 to 1/4 stereo cable. It must split into TWO cablles to plug into the PMP.

There are two resistors 310-3 10R on the power supply of the Europower pmp 5000, i need to know if it is 330k or 330om.

The schematic for the power supply does NOT show resistors in the 310-3... Where are these in the circuit... IF THESE happen to be the gate drive resistors for the IGBT's they are 33 ohms. If you have hasd a failure in this area there are other parts that typically get destroyed, including one or both the speedup diodes at the same gates; Here is the complete PMP5000 schematic:

Behringer europower pmp1000, mixer unit, has all leds lit ,is responding to mic. input, bur is not producing any ourput to speakers, can you advise please.

ALL LED's should NOT be lit all the time. If thsy are, there is a failure in the power supply.

plug headphones into the 1/4 inch main output jacks on the top... you will only hear sound in the left side headphone for each. This would verify the preamp is working.

No sound from left side

Do you have the pan level shifted all the way to the right by any chance?

No sound from the left side

Assuming your PAN controls are all at 12 o'clock, it looks like you have popped one side of the power amp. Please read my tip on here about the HAZARD on the "A" channel of PMP powered mixers. Essentailly, if you use Speakon to 1/4 inch cables or adapters the BARREL or the SLEEVE of channel "A" connector is the HOT side of the speaker and touch ground with it and goodbye Channel A side amp. They don't tell you about this in the manual. The tip of the plug is e cold side of the amp output UNLIKE channel B where the tip is the hot side. They do this to make it easy to implement "bridged mode".

Reepair of thes amps takes skill. This likely has the DPA300 module in it and you will find one side fried switching transistors and often a Zener diode. Sometimes the circuit board will have arced and be damaged.

No amp output.amplifier damage

You will have to have it repaired. Also read my tip regarduing the PMP mixer/amps that if you use 1/4 inch cable plugs to speakers, the SLEEVE of channel A is hot, not the tip. It the sleeve shportss to somehing that is ground, goodbye Channel A or more. This is not in the book.
