The computer recognises it now, so i installed the Manager too. But this time the manager is not starting up. It gives this eror message:

Re: MPMan MP-F40 Manager Bug
I'm guessing the full error is "System Error &H8007007E (-214024770). The specified module could not be found."
Its missing some file. I suggest you try installing it again http://www.mpmaneurope.com/download.aspx?file_id=192
it wasn't update in a while, but you can try.
could be that its not compatible with sp1, or at least part of it.
can you live without it? ;]

Sometimes windows XP doesn't install the driver to recognize your USB ports. For example, a fresh install of XP does not contain any driver for sound or graphics. The best way is to update your windows XP up to Service Pack 3 by installing SP1 and SP2... etc, it will take a looooooooong time, but your PC would be better.
To check whether or not you have any USB drivers install just go to control panel and then device manager. Look for Universal Serial Bus (USB)
This player works only with Windows XP/SP1 or below. Here is an exact quote from the company: If you have WindowsXP SP2, we recommend that you go back to Windows XP SP1 before Microsoft solves the problem.
