I have cleared it many times but still cannot figure it out. Problem #2. Under Set/On/Off Times line 3 if I want to start on a specifice day, i.e., Wed and then repeat it for a week under the programming do I sratrt with the day as Wed? If I do that it will not know that I want to keep the same setting for a week. I will be gone a week. How do I set the days? thank you.

Thank you for very clear question, and timer identification.
1) I don't have repair for defective timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#DT300
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/DT300-series-manual.pdf

2) Choose DT300 format
#3 says to press-and-hold CLOCK button until display shows 24H or 12H
Then release CLOCK button.
Next press HOUR button to select either 12H or 24H
This lets you choose am-pm format -or- choose military-time format where 11pm is 23

3) Set current time
Press-and-hold CLOCK button throughout whole current time setting.
Do not release CLOCK button until current time settings are finished.
Next, press HOUR button, and then MINUTE button, and then DAYS button until current hour, minute and day display.
Then release CLOCK button.
If this step does not work, then timer has gone bad.
Replace with locally available Utilitec 155671 from Lowes or Westek TE06WHB from Target
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59377

4) How to set DT300 timer program for full week of operation.
Each program requires you to set program 1 ON time and program 1 OFF time
Be careful to avoid program conflicts and overlaps so timer works as expected.

For program 1 ON time, you press PROGRAM button until 1 and ON display.
Release Program button.
Then select hour, minute and days. In this case you want all days of week, so you keep pressing DAYs button until whole week displays: Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su

Then you set program 1 OFF time, you press PROGRAM button again until 1 and OFF display.
Release Program button.
Then select hour, minute and days. In this case you want all days of week, so you keep pressing DAYs button until whole week displays: Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su

If you set ON time for all days of week, and OFF time for Tu Tuesday, then timer will not work correctly.

5) Read manual and add a comment for additional help

Change the time on our NEC DT300 Series

What model of NEC phone system do you have? Go look in the phone or data room and look at the PBX. You might also be able to press Feature 3 to get some information which would be helpful to a tech. If it is an SV8100 try this:

To set the system Time:

1. Press

Speaker.

2. Dial

728.

3. Dial two digits for the hour (24 hour clock, 13 = 1:00 PM).

4. Dial two digits for the minutes (00~59).
5. Press

Speaker to hang up.

Cannot find the WEEK button on the DT300 as referenced under TO REVISE A SETTING. have not been able to get both of my timers to turn on the lamps i have programmed, perhaps this has something to do with...

Open following links to identify timer.
If you have different timer, then add a comment.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/DT300-series-manual.pdf
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#DT300

I do not see a week button either, and sure enough the Intermatic manual says press the WEEK button to revise ON OFF times. The GE manual says exact same thing. And so does the Woods manual.
I think what the instruction means is this:
To revise programs, press Progam button as many times as needed to arrive at the program you want to change. For example program1 ON or program1 OFF etc.
Then reset the program as shown in step 5 using the Hour button to set Hour, and Minute button to set minutes, and day button to select the days or blocks of days (including all 'week' as one of the choices).

Both timers will not operate?
I test timers and a percentage arrive defective. There is no repair for defect timer. This timer has 1 year warranty.
There is no load rating on this timer, at Intermatic, GE or Woods. Timer is older style and probably rated for 500-800Watts incandescent light bulbs only.
Also test outlet with circuit analyzer to make sure polarity is not issue. This is a polarized timer, and outlet wiring must be correct for electronic timers.
Make sure each program has ON and OFF time. So set program1 ON, and then set program1 OFF. And make sure same days or blocks of days are selected for each.
When setting on and off times, make sure there are no overlaps or conflicts that cause timer not to function correctly.
Another thing is setting timer for 12:00 midnight. It's better to select 11:59pm so the day is clearly understandable to timer.
When reading complex manuals, I write out the steps until things are clear.

Do not know how to set timer DT300 for Lights

Hi

Programming:
Set present time
Then set ON time for program 1
Set OFF time for program 1
Then set ON time for program 2
Set OFF time for program 2
Most timers will not function if there is a conflict in programming > for example Program 1 says ON at 6 and OFF at 7 and Program 2 says opposite or has overlapping times
When events are set, press SET once > this will put timer in RUN mode

If manual override works, and you set programming correctly, but timer does not carry out instructions, I guess the timer is no good.

Intermatic has 24 hour timers with 2 on-off per day
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20indoor%20timers/lamp%20%20appliance%20timers.aspx
Intermatic has 7-day digital timers (all digital timers today are 7 day where you select the day that each program works)
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/consumer%20indoor%20timers/digital%20timers.aspx

Thanks.

How do I program the timer to turn on and off at specified times?

You need to program the timer so it turns on-off at specified times.

But first we need to identify your timer for sure.
Have a look at link below.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59203
If your timer does not show, then add a comment with description of timer.
I have extensive files on timers.

Intermatic DT300, GE 15091, and Woods 59203 are the same timer.

Here are instructions for Woods 59203:
Plug timer in until battery is recharged.
If display will not show, then timer battery needs to be plugged into outlet for 1 hour until internal battery is recharged, or timer is bad, or electric circuit is tripped off, or electric circuit heeds to be tested with circuit analyzer.

Once display shows, then unplug timer for programming.
Set current time:
Press and hold CLOCK button.
Press HOUR and MINUTE to set correct time with am and pm.
Press Day button to set current day.
Release clock button.

Program timer:
Press PROGRAM button until "1 ON" displays. This is program1 ON.
Press MINUTE and HOUR buttons to set ON time for program1
Press DAY button to choose day or group of days for program1 ON

Press PROGRAM button until "1 OFF" displays. This is program1 OFF
Press MINUTE and HOUR buttons to set OFF time for program1
Press DAY button to choose day or group of days for program1 OFF

Press PROGRAM button until "2 ON" displays. This is program2 ON.
Repeat steps above to set ON and OFF time for 5 programs.

When programming is completed, press CLOCK button to exit programming.
Press ON/AUTO/OFF button until Auto displays.

Make sure lamp is turned on.
Make sure bulb is good.

If instructions don't fit your timer, then add a comment with model number or full description and I'll post those instructions.
Also you can take advantage of Fixya phone service where expert speaks with you over the phone for a price.
