Bought a Nikon Coolpix S3000 (orange) for my daughter after Christmas. It just stopped working one day; wouldn't charge, no lights or come on. The battery it came with is a Nikon lithium ION Battery Pack EN-EL 10 - 3.7V 740mAh - 2.8Wh. The charger it came with plugs into the USB of the camera and then into a Wall plug-in. Even if the battery was completely dead, wouldn't the camera come on with the A/C or wall plug-in? If not what battery pack would you recommend and what would be the best way to charge it? I've never seen and external battery charger for a battery that looks like it would fit in a cell phone but i also have never had to look for one either.

Try the following:
- Remove and insert the battery (to reset)
- Start your coolpix
- During a few seconds, it shoud start... before saying the battery is low. Quickly connect it to a computer during that time (quite short !)
The problem occurs when the "charge by computer" option is activated (see user manual item #173 / page 161).
If the light flashes again, do not press the on/off button: instead, wait for the battery to get charged (otherwise everything will get stopped - and you will have to play again).
When done, check the "charge by computer" option (and fix it if misconfigured).

Read page 16 of the manual. Do not use any other charger with this camera. Are you sure you have the battery inserted correctly? When trying to charge, does the green light blink? If so, when it stops blinking and turns off, the battery should be fully charged. Do not attempt to turn the camera on while the charger is trying to charge the battery.

Battery life nikon coolpix s3000

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Nikon S3000 dosent turn on

Have you updated the firmware? According to Nikon, when the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10 is inserted in the camera and charged, charging sometimes did not stop after the designated amount of time had passed. Usually, you'll receive the message "Battery Exhausted" if this is the problem... but you could also have a completely dead camera as well.

See Nikon's website, download updated firmware to your camera and install a NEW battery. http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16873

Please check the voltage on the battery using a multimeter. Now if there is no voltage try and charge and test with the camera , if the camera powers and then shuts off then it is possible that the battery is faulty. If so it must be replaced, check if warranty is applicable.

My Nikon Coolpix S3000 says battery exhausted, but when I plug into charge it won't charge. Any suggestions?

The rechargeable battery probably needs to be replaced, I would take it to a camera shop let him have a quick look to make sure the charge light is coming on and try a new battery.
