Sounds like the DLP lamp failed. You can decipher the Hitachi flashing red light. That should help to be sure.

HI, this may be a simple cooling issue. try inspecting the cooling fans that are located near the power sector. if these cooling devices are not operational, they will cause the power board to shut down periodically, due to heat build up.
If the fans are operational, this will confirm a weak and defective power power board.
