Hi, I'm not even getting far enough for request of isp p/w. I know we checked the ppoa with the quest tech not sure how to do the mtu. On a side note I tried to set the system up on my Dell computer (couple of years older than my Sony) and had the same problem. Pinged the router had the Ethernet going all the same just cannot get on the internet. Any sugestions?? Please include detailed instructions.

well, go to homeportal/management, type the system password, and on that page you will see the management and diagnostic console of your 2wire modem. there you can make the changes for the wireless channels of the modem. under local network, click on wireless, maximize wireless channels to 11 and set the power settings to 10, then make sure SSID is enabled, WEP is set to default encryption & WEP-open, then click on the submit button on the upper or lower right corner of the screen. then click on statistics, make sure wireless is able to transmit / receive wireless packets. then try to connect to your 2wire network, the SSID is actually 2wirexxx (xxx stands for the last 3 nos. of the serial no.) if it asks for the security key or passphrase for the security enabled network, type the nos. enclosed in brackets found at the barcode sticker just below the serial no. (SN). check if you are able to connect with full access, of course the 2wire modem must be connected using ethernet cable to access the MDC.
for additional info, go to 2wire.com

it is normally 192.168.1.254 for this router, but if you have pinged it the router must be ok, double check your isp password and usename and PPOe or PPOA setting and that the mtu is set correct for your isp.
