With out seeing the trimmers it is a little difficult to tell but with process of elimination - you may want to check the blades to see if the bolts on the blades are to tight there should be very little play so the blades move freely, that wold cause it to heat up, or you may have a short in the wiring which could also cause it to heat up. For the wiring you will have to take the handle and housing apart. If you have to take it apart take your time and lay everything out in order that you take it apart so that all you have to do is go in reverse order to put it all back. Sounds like something is binding. or belt is slipping. Does it smoke when not in gear. Check and see if everything turns by hand when out of gear and no motor running. Make sure its not binding anyplace. If that is ok Start it up and just idle the engine and try to run the deck and put it in gear. If that stalls it out then you do have a problem.
they are probably right, its a common problem, the smell is from you loading the battery and starter and cables by constantly cranking engine, the windows on many of those cars have binding tracks so just the battery wont move them as fast as with the alternator going sounds crazy be so ture, good luck,ps. dont take a genius to test that fuelpump, they hopefuly have, good luck .
Check your muffler to be sure doesn't have a build up of carbon from the oil/gas fuel. This is the problem with 99% of equipment that uses mixed gas. Take the muffler off and see if it runs better without it. If so there is carbon build up in the muffler and muffler port on the engine. Burn the muffler in an open fire for a while to remove the carbon, or burn it with a torch, toss out the screen that's is in most mufflers, (unless of course you live in California where they are required), Scrape out the port with a knife and after the muffler cools on it's own (don't cool with water as you will warp it and not get a good seal) reinstall and see if this solves the problem.
if its electric burning smell, its either a overheating motor, capacitor or both or burnt connections, sounds like a motor problem,it will be very hot to touch if its failing, check capacitor though as it could be causing motor to overheat, rating of cap is on side
Add peanut butter for better taste. lol... but seriously, the dryer should be be disassembled somewhat so that all the chocolate (or the residue it left) can be completely cleaned out. Unplug it of course. Get a can of electrical spray cleaner from an auto parts store and squirt off everything electrical inside.
