The remote have to work with new batteries. You can check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. In your case it could caused by a leaky diodes or a bad solder. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace Possible batteries problems: 1 batteries are not making contact properly inside the remote. Test by cleaning connections of the batteries and the remote. 2 battery charger is bad and isn't actually charging the battery. Test by charging on another charger if possible. 3 batteries are bad and are not actually recharging. test by using other batteries if possible. 4 other, unknown, internal remote problem. buy a new one.

My remote works fine except for the volume control to the receiver(HTR5440). How can I set this for response?

http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/htr/htr-5440_black__u/

a good start would be a glance at the owners manual

this will help
perhaps you have a faulty remote
perhaps it got banged and needs the insides soldered like the IR diode at the top end
i see you mention it isnt working
so try another or take the remote to an electronics buddy who can click it open and check for a bad solder or etc...

Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.
If you've found a solution, please post it here.

Sound problems

I'm not like an electrical engineer or anything, but it sounds to me that there are some problems with the circuitry that operates the sytem (the circuitry in the subwoofer/built-in amp inside the subwoofer). As for the volume control, have you adjusted it from the remote and from the controls right on the front of the subwoofer? If you only tried adjusting it from the remote, then you probably need a new remote (if you can get a new remote; I don't think most remotes work with Durabrand). If you tried adjusting it from the controls on the subwoofer unit, then the subwoofer's circuitry probably needs to be replaced.
