I have intel 101 Ggc Mother board and intel pentium D processor , i was using 756MB ram (512+ 256MB) RAM. But after i brought 1 GB ram and Used it instead of 256 MB Ram the system started restarting after windows XP loading screen, i even tried using only the 1 GB Ram and the problem persists, could you please let me know what should i do make 1GB ram work properly. The Ram specification is as mentioned in the manual of Intel 101Ggc mother, even the 512 MB ram and 256 MB ram i used belonged to same Specification.

There is a chance that you have faulty RAM module. If computer is stable on POST (until Windows boot-up) I would suggest to use some testing tools to test that RAM with your motherboard. There is a good program called MemTest. You can find it online if you search Hirens Boot CD. Download it, burn image to disk, put 1GB RAM into motherboard, start-up PC and boot from CD. Then you'll search for Memtest program. I would suggest to leave PC for at least 6 hours for testing to find out if it's faulty or not (better to leave for 24 hours).

I dont know where the model number on my computer is

I have to assume the sound is derived from the mother board. We'll need the Manufacturer of the motherboard (not the chips) i.e. Intel, Assus etc. and the model # which should be printed very close to the manufacturers name.
