When i turn on my player, it says "Internal memory unknown format. Attach USB and reformat." But when i attach it to the computer, the 'format' option doesn't seem to work for the player.
How do i format it then? Or is there any other solution?
Wow, worked great. When it says hold the menu button, it means hold it down, not in. Takes a few tries to get the upgrader notation to remain on the screen; what helped was once it started loading in general, take your finger off the on/off button, then release the menu button when upgrader appears.
I am very pleased that this finally worked for me.
I obtained sucess, making following steps:
1 - open player.
2 - remove memory SD support.
3 - power on player. in the display appears "UPGRADER".
4 - install memory SD support.
5 - attach usb cable.
6 - upgrade firmware "Firmware v1.11 "

Re: Formatting the player memory
You've must have some how deleted the system files of the player. So what you must do is: format the memory threw the Motorola manager so it could re-install those files. After formatting threw the manager there should be no problem.
hope it helps, good luck!!

in some phones there is a direct option for formatting so u can do it frm there..
if u dont have such a phone then attach your card to your pc and connect it as mass storage..
then right click on the specified drive in MY COMPUTER
u will see an option of format in that.. choose that option
plz remember to save all your data at some other place as formatting erases all data
try plugging it into your computer. go to my computer, and double click sansa 260 (or what ever yours is) then you should see a drive called internal memory, right click and reformat . You'll still lose your stuff tho.
Don't know if your sansa supports from the settings, info tab to select sd card and format, if not attach to pc (settings usb) and the first memory displayed will be internal the second will be microsd card.
Press the MENU and turn it on, as soon as the word RIO shows on the
screen release the power button but do not release the MENU
button until it says upgrading Plug the USB cord to it and install Rio Forge Firmware_120 Turn the mp3 off then on normally Put the music back on your mp3 and it SHOULD be fixed. but your music will be gone..
Yous should try reformating the player using Motorola's firmware. (Go to http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=DigitalAudio
and download firmware v1.11 .) I've also found that calling Motorola's help line was useful.
1. go to http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/r....asp?prodID=213 and download update 1.33
2. install update in C:\RioForge\Flash133
3. run RioForgeFlash_133.exe from C:\RioForge\Flash133
4. press Rio Forge menu button and turn the unit on. "upgrader" will appear on screen.
5. plug USB cable to RioForge.
6. click "next" on Rio Upgrade Wizard. Wizard will detect your player. Select and click "next". Upgrade will take place.
7. Unplug Rio Forge from USB and turn it on.
