SOURCE: Printer is online and says ready but won't even attempt to print

Click on Start,
Go to Control Panel,
open Printer and Faxes
look for the Printer which is HP C5280 or any icon related to same,
Right click
Choose set as default
Close Everything
Shutdown your computer and Printer
Check and make sure that the USB cable is connected propely
Restart the Printer first and then the computer, try Printing some thing.

if this doesnt resolve you issue then i would suggest you to uninstall the printer software and reinstall and update it from HP.com.

Please let me know about the resolution

SOURCE: printer says printing document but will not print. anything

I had this same problem, and after 45 minutes with HP support, eventually managed to get it to print by turning the printer of and then holding down both arrow keys (left and right) at the same time while turning the printer back on. I held down the arrow keys until it said "Language: English" and then clicked through the prompts. It then restarted, and all was well again.
Other places mention doing this with the OK and Cancel keys, but that didn't do it for me - the arrow keys did.

Does not print

Click Start/Control Panel and look the Printer within the control panel. Open it and make sure you don't have the same printer installed more than once on your system. If you do then you can get the system confused and the queue backed up if you print to one that is not ready. If you have more than one then delete it.

Also open the printer properties and make sure you are using the right connection such as USB, LPT1, Wireless, TCPIP (Network).

When you open a document and get ready to print, rather than hit the print icon, click File, then select Print. When the print window opens you can click the drop down arrow on the Name to see if the same printer is installed more than once. You can also get to the printer properties this way.

If you have a printer icon at the bottom right near the time on your screen open it and delete all the documents that are backed up waiting to print.

My lexmark z22 has never been used, has a new ink cartridge installed, but will only print test pages -- not what i want to save. please help

First you need to connect the printer to your computer with the supplied printer cable including the power cable.
You need to install the printer driver on you computer.
You may need to setup the printer preferences, eg. paper size etc.
You printer is now ready to print your documents. When you have opened an document such as a word document, to print this document click on file - print

No printing, printer says ready, will test print from menu button

Go to my computer, click on control panel, click on printer/fax and see what is set for default. What ever printer icon that says ready, right click and set as default.

My printer will not print anything. It doesn't say any errors. I use windows vista.

You likely need to download an updated driver for Vista from the printer mfg internet connection. Delete and reinstall the printer in the computer as if the printer was new. When it looks for the driver, point to where you have the new driver stored. Hope this helps.

Can't print new documents but keeps printing old documents

you acumulate a number of errors or print exe commands into the printer folder and it takes them first ... do not print anything ..but open the printer folder and /delete all errors and elder comands..
also is possible that into a previous print you set the wizard to print a number of multiple copies and do not have enough paper or so ...or just closed it before completing ..this will also make it print the elder command first ...so ...open the folder...( it can be opened from the tray system by right click and choose (tray =bottom right on task bar )...

I attempted to print a 25 page document, with reverse pages. Only 9 pages printed. I cannot print anything now. and the message on the printer reads, DATA REMAINING. I have pushed every button...

It seems the printer buffer memory has overflowed. Cancel the print from the print Que and switch off the printer. Give your PC a reboot too. Now switch on the printer and make sure that there is no document in the print Que. If its still there, disconnect the printer and delete the pending job, i.e. print Que. After the printer shows it ready for printing do not release the entire document for printing at one go. Breakup the print job in 3 parts and for each part manually enter the page numbers and then give the print command. Repeat this till the entire lot is over..........................sodeep

Green ready light on, but will not print

When you refilled the paper, did you load a different size paper? Try this: on your PC, left click on START, then left click on CONTROL PANEL. Next, left click on PRINTERS. Find your BROTHER on the printers page and view the status box. Does it show READY? Are there any DOCUMENTS pending? Left click (you may have to click twice)on the BROTHER icon. The PRINT QUEUE appear, showing any documents waiting to be printed, and their status. If anything is in the queue, cancel all documents so the queue is clear. Next, RIGHT CLICK on the BROTHER icon . On the drop down menu, left click on PRINTING PREFERENCES. Make sure the settings match the paper you have loaded in your machine. If something is not right (Paper size, orientation, etc) the machine will not print. Carefully check all the settings and correct as necessary. To test, first click OK to exit PRINTING PREFERENCES. On the same menu, left click on PROPERTIES. On the GENERAL tab, left click on TEST PAGE button to generate a test print.
