Windows includes drivers for hundreds of commonly used devices, including sound cards and adapters. Therefore, when installing a new sound card or motherboard in your system, there is a fair chance that Windows already has a suitable driver and will install it automatically. Nevertheless, there are many sound cards or on-board audio adapters for which Windows does not have a suitable driver. In these cases, Windows might not be able to recognize device, thus making it inoperable. When this occurs, you must install the audio driver manually before you can hear sound in Windows.
1.Click "Start," right-click "Computer" and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
2.Click "Device Manager" and then double-click "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Locate the audio device with the yellow exclamation mark next to it. Right-click the device name and then click "Uninstall." Windows deletes the device from Device Manager.
3. Click "Action" on the menu bar and then "Scan for Hardware Changes." Windows detects the audio device and attempts to install a driver automatically. If Windows finds a compatible driver, it installs it automatically and you're finished. If Windows does not install the driver automatically, you must install it manually.
Install the Driver
1. Insert the audio device or motherboard driver disc into the optical drive of your computer. When the "Auto Play" window appears, click the "X" in the upper right corner to close it.
2. Right-click the audio device with the exclamation mark in Device Manager. Click "Update Driver Software."
3. Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software." Click the "Browse" button and then scroll down to the drive letter for your optical drive. Highlight the driver letter and then click "OK."
4. Enable the "Include Subfolders" option and then click "Next." Windows searches the disc for a compatible audio driver and installs it automatically. Click the "Finish" button. Restart the computer if prompted.
I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.
