TV Turns off on its own ?

When I press the power button and the TV begins to power up, it will click and then turn back off before projecting a screen. The power button light will then blink and no button will cause anything to happen. The TV will not turn on and the remote does not work either. The TV is on a power surge protector and all other electronics attached are working fine. All other connections seem to be good. If I unplug the TV and try again, the process will repeat. The trouble shooting guide doesnt say anything for this type of trouble and the manual doesnt say there is some sort of pretection mechanisim going on... What could be the problem? Thanks

They even tied to charge me 100 a piece for the parts I could get form Panasonic directly at 30 a piece... Crooks ..... I paid the 30 and had them repair it, and promptly sold the TV.... Traded for a 1080P Samy... Couldnt be happier...

You can check the board where the components are mounted and resolder any that look bad. a brief power outages may cause the TV to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. all can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced.

Mitsubishi Medallion does this

hi there,

Check for bad solder on convergence module. May have bad stk's. Do not neglect looking for bad solder on dsignal and defl boards. Mitsubishi is very prone to bad solder.

TV turns on, then turns itself off about 2 seconds later.

set has a self diagnostic---after set does shut down press and hold MENU AND DEVICE(INPUT) buttons on front of set for 5 seconds----if 2 blinks, a pause and 2 more blinks: this is short protection error code---The set does use 2 Stk394-250 and each is protected by a pico fuse in the power supply---if either fuse is blown the set will shut down(it detects no voltage or missing voltage;) It is not uncommon for a shorted IC to cause this problem; if you locate the STK's look carefully at the resistors around them---if any are discolored or burnt---you have found your problem.

Sound, but no picture

Had the same thing today. Iwas playing with the auto demonstration of on screen displays. Press and hold the power button (5 seconds) on the TV. The auto display will play. Press the power button again (TV will go off). Turn power on again. you should now have the picture back
