The original driver that came with the mouse is useless in Vista. You can however get the basic functions to work if you make sure that the mouse settings in the "Device Manager" are set to show that you are using an "HID" compliant device. Also, in my case, when I tried to install the mouse on my laptop, it was showing up in "DM" as an "other" category as an "unknown" device. I just selected the "unknown" device, clicked on properties and updated the driver using the automatic function and that got mine working for me. Once I succeeded to get the mouse working, the "other" category dissapeared. I do not know if it switched to the "mouse" or the "HID Devices" category nor do I care now that it works.

** DO NOT waste your time looking for the old driver or a new driver! There are no updated drivers or software for this mouse to be used in Vista nor will there ever be. That info come straight from Micro Innovations.

Good luck and keep trying different settings in Device Manager until you succeed.

Magnifier not showing real time

Windows Vista and Windows 7 may need updated drivers made for these windows version.for your device to be able to work properly. Sometime the manufacture for older device will not make drivers for the newer windows.
They want to sell newer product instead of updating the older mouse.driver.
Go to the manufacture web site of you mouse if there is an updated version for your mouse for Vista.

Will trackball model 64215 work on Windows 7?

The last operating system that allows a Kensington Expert Mouse 5.0 Model 64215 to work properly is Windows XP. Kensington refuses to update their MouseWorks software in order to make it compatible with Windows Vista or 7. The mouse WILL work, but only with basic functionality, i.e., no programmable buttons, and the pointer moves crazy slow...

I have a toshiba satellite and after the most recent windows update my external mouse stopped working and says driver malfunction when i plug it in... i have tried everything system restore driver...

Try opening Device Manager in Control Panel and deleting the driver. Reboot, plug the mouse in again and see if that works.
Alternatively try restoring your PC to before your last update.

Sometimes mouse freezes up. new battery.computer runs on vista. when you want to click on something it works sometimes and sometimes it just freezes

That problem is usually a driver issue. when you plug the mouse the drivers are not properly configured and thus communication between the computer and the mouse becomes eratic. Visit the Manufacturers website and see if they have any updates. Also make sure your mouse is compatible with Windows Vista... Windows Vista did come with quite a few compatibility issues...
Finally make sure you don't have any resource conflicts. Sometimes new hardware can take on resources that are being used by another piece of hardware thus the eratic behaviour

Message saying alps pointing devive has stopped working, can still move mouse pointer but cant use the scroll function

A possible fix for the Alps problem Your Alps pointer problem is probably driver related. To fix it:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Right click on Computer & choose properties
3. Open Device Manager (Admin password may be required)
4. Under Mice & other pointing devices, right click Alps pointing-device & choose Update driver software
5. Choose Search automatically & it will download and install the latest signed driver from the windows repositories & hopefully that will fix that problem.
