Hi. It sounds like there was a voltage spike. I suspect that the crystal display has blown. This may be repaired at a electronics shop, or a new dash cluster would be needed.
I would tell them to come pick up their hunk of garbage. Having a company tell you that everything is running fine when your refrigerator is full of rotting food is past my point of warranty repair. I would no longer have trust in the fridge or the brand and would ask for a refund or a replacement. How old is this fridge?
It does sound like your battery will need to be replaced. Laptop batteries are typically Lithium Ion batteries which have a limited number of recharges before they will no longer hold a charge. Usually your battery will need to be replaced every 2 years. While I typically tell people to purchase parts on ebay to save $ this is one of the cases in which I will not do so as the battery you are likely to get from your laptop manufacturer is likely to be of higher quality (these batteries are known to explode at times : O ). With LiOH batteries you are advised to fully discharge them once a month from full charge down to 0%, this is supposed to make them last longer although I have not independently confirmed this recommendation.
it's the same on most phones so i guess it's something that cannot be solved just by changing the settings. I tried it on another phone but there just doesn't seem to be any way round it.
From everything I've read and tried over the years it all points to the same thing. Because there is such a big imedence mismatch between standard headphones and laptop output jacks, that they never seem to quite work. I have seen a couple machines that the sound works fine but for the most part the sound is either dull or tiney.
Is the AWD light on showing it is disabled? If that is the case, I have the same problem on my 03 and it turned out to be the Rear Wheel Hub(s). $500.00 at a dealer or $129.00 at Auto Zone. Not to difficult to replace, just sits behind brakes and stuff. Another sign if this is your case is that the rear will sound louder that normal, kind of like will sound like that rear has no insulation in it and you can hear everything.
