What does "service req. - 00010005" on epson 4880 printer mean?

http://largeformatrepairs.co.uk/errors/epson/sp4880/00010005/

Quoting from the link above:

Service Call Error 00010005 CR Motor Out Of Step During CR Motor operation, there may be a case where the encoder pulse signal within the specified range is not input within a specified period of time or the pulse width is extremely long or short. In such a case, the CR Motor is judged to be out-of-step, so that this message is displayed and the printer stops operating.
This error occurs on the Epson Stylus Pro 4880 large format printer and is not a routine maintenance request.

Epson 4000

The error relates to a carriage movement error detected by the printer. This means the printer has detected too much power is required ti move the print head. Reason : All these Service Requests (Service Requests 00010004 , 00010005, 00010006, 00010007, 0001000A, 0001000F, 0001001D) are related to a Carriage movement error that is not automatically due to a Hardware fault. The reasons can be : - The carriage is lock not completely released. - The carriage lock has been partially pushed in after a paper jam or maintenance (for example). Reminder : The carriage lock must be released after unpacking the printer (see setup instructions) as follow : Points to check : In case such an error appears: - Power off the printer. - Ensure the Carriage lock is released (pulled to the left side) - Pushing down the cutter blade, slide the carriage to the left ? At the same time, please check if there is any foreign materials / dust / paper jam in the carriage path. If so, remove them. - Also, make sure that the carriage encoder (T-Fence) isn?t dirty and is correctly set and centered. Let me know how you get on with this info.

Hi,
  • This error means there is a problem with your printers carriage operations
  • Check the carriage and the cartridges.
  • Remove anything that could be in the way of the carriages.
  • Check the cutter cap which if may also be a cause.
Thank you!

Service Request 00010005

1. The CR Encoder and the T Fence must be free from dust and dirt or any other foreign matters.
2. The CR Timing Belt must be free from any defects and the belt must be in proper tension.
3. The carriage must slide smoothly, free from undue load.
4. Measure the resistance value of the CR Motor. (5.8Ω)
5. Execute encoder checking by “Encoder ”) in the selfdiagnostics menu.
6. All the harness must be connected properly and free from short circuit or broken wire.
7. Check the carriage home position sensor.

Service Call Error - 00010005

This error 00010005 popped up when I was messing with my Print head for cleaing purposes.when I put the print head back into place the lever mechanism that is attached to the cutter blade detached from itself not allowing the printer to move the print head freely.below is a picture I scanned in from my Quick Reference Guide that shows how the mechanism should be. When I saw this I then realised what had happend and was able to put down the cutter blade to re attach the lever mechanism. After this I did not recieve the service code again and the print head was able to move freely. I hope this helps.

Whene i start my 9880 it giveme a 00010005 error call service waht can i do to solve this problem? thank you.

Make sure there is nothing blocking the carraige (where the cartridges sit).
If there is nothing blocking it then the printer will have to go to an Epson service centre to be repaired as a part needs replacing.

Epson Pro 7600 Service required error

You need to be able to clear the counters in the printer that tell the printer to stop working.
In order to do that you must

1. Turn printer off
2. you must hold down the "Paper Source, Paper Feed, Select Feed, Cut/Eject" buttons all at the sime time while you turn the printer back on.
3. From there navigate through the menues to clear the counter that pertains to you or all.
(Error 00000101 is pertains to the print head motor)

Word of warning -
Those counters can be a pain as they cause the printer to stop working however you do need to get your printer serviced by a tech as soon as you can because the error is a warning, reset the counters lets you finsih a job, but if it goes unserviced too long it will actually break down all togther.

So even after you rest the counters you absolutly must get your printer serviced soon.
