i think the sim driver ic is broken, so that you replace the sim driver ic to the technician of the cellphone shop

Rohan, The US version uses 850 and 1900 GSM networks while Indians use 900 and 1800 Network. So, it will not work here.

If the sim is faulty, then it can cause this problem.

If the phone does the same with different SIM cards, then check the sim contacts in the phone slot, if you cannot find anything wrong, then it is an internal problem, probablu with the circuits connecting to sim card slot on the phone.

N95 china mobile sim card problem

hte thing is...ur phone is handset bundled offer phone..so til the validity ends on ur new sim card..the phone is designed to detect only new sim..so ucant change til validity ends...or u may approach any private local mobile repair shop..i wont cost u much..
