Question about Canon PowerShot SD400 / IXUS 50 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Fluid in Camera - No clear images

My Canon Ixus 50 camera was slightly showered with beer during a concert. Now it still makes clear movies but when it comes to fotos and I press the button, the camera can't focus and the image gets blurred. When pressing the button, it seems to have a counter-pressure. Moreover in the photo mode the circle controller neither has an effect on the left side (distance control) nor on the right side (flash). Please help me Thanks a lot A.

Cannot get the setting to change from "movie" to individual picture. I can't change the setting to take an individual picture and the manual does not cover this problem. Help!

On my Ixus 70, there is a slide switch on the back of the camera at the upper right side that selects still, movie, or review pictures, with icons of a camera, a movie camera , and an arrow in a box. If your camera has the same layout, then slid this switch to the top position and you will be in still photo mode.

Cannot take a shot

"It can take very clear and vibrant pictures, and it lives up to the high expectation that the IXUS/Powershot brand has forged over the years, particularly for premium models such as this one. However, its button design and build quality are from perfect and can make the camera frustrating to use. Nevertheless, if you want a very small camera that can capture great images, it's hard to overlook the Canon IXUS 130 IS/PowerShot SD1400 IS."

Canon ixus 50 the camera is not switching on and the lens is open

Check the battery cover closes properly, the camera will not operate at all if the switch thinks the cover is even slightly open. Try removing the card, sometimes they cause cameras to not start when they are faulty. If all else fails, the fuse is most likely blown. They are internally located just near the power switch but you are best to have a service centre replace it for you. Best of luck.

Dropped Ixus 50 in water...!

place your camera in a hot press, or where your boiler is, on shelf and it might dry out in a day or two, then try it again.

Canon Ixus v2

Do you own an SD400, or is it really an S400? The symptoms you're describing sound like a defective CCD imager. If your camera is an S400, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Canon SD 700 IS Movie Sound Issue

This is because of low light and low frame rates in the camera. It records the sound on time but the picture delays. In the camera's video menu, choose a higher frame rate to help this a little. Honestly though, If you want to shoot better video get a video camera.

Black display in lcd in shooting & movie mode

Your CCD imager is broken, cameras made from 2002 up to 2005 has a weak ccd imager. Company who uses this defective ccd imager recalled all unit and replaced it with a stronger design free of charge. check first their website, find their customer support bulletin, make a copy and show it to their service center.
