DVD player not playing DVD's

Not an expert in DVD players, But it sounds like a scratched DVD or a weak laser. You could try buying and running a laser lens cleaner through it, as that will clean the laser and make it play better.
Also check if there is a firmware update for the DVD player.

how long have you been using this player? I suspect the laser (lens) of the player. I think the laser (lens) is weak that's why it cannot read data/files on DVD discs.

To confirm if actually its a laser problem, insert an Audio CD into the player and see if will play. If it plays, then obviously, your laser (lens) is weak. But if it doesn't play Audio CD, then it might still be the laser (lens) or a mechanism problem.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all DVD discs again.

first you most clean the laser with alcohol and try again or change the region code on your DVD player.......

Laser is probebly goin bad and can't read. try putting a music Cd in. If it can play the music CD but not the DVD it's the laser.

The unit has two lasers one for the cd and one for the dvd, the one for the dvd is bad and the whole laser assembly needs replaced. Cheaper to buy a new player.... sorry

The unit can recognize that a disc has been loaded but can not read the contents. This can be as simple as a dirty lens or more drastic like failing optics. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to correct the problem and a music CD will play OK, then the optics are failing. DVDs require more laser power to read than a music CD.

Hello I was looking to try and help you with your DVD player, we will start by loading a music cd store purchased, no burned cds please, if the cd loads and plays then your dvd player is either out of adjustment or going bad, most dvd players, i have worked on, will load and play a music cd, but will show loading errors when trying DVD's. If the music cd dosen't load then there could be an issue with the drive or tray. If the music cd plays just fine, then your laser is either out of adjustment or going bad. You can call the manufacuter to see if there is a process for resetting the DVD player, not all DVD players have this option, if resetting the DVD player dosen't work, but music cd's do then your laser lens is dirty or going bad. At this point you have three options 1) Take it to a repair shop, 2) Get an new one, 3) Get your hands dirty if your really handy and know what your doing to clean and replace the laser. PS has no effect.. Most likely the laser is going bad in the DVD.. See if it will play a music CD* If it will play a music CD but not the DVD it is the Laser. Most of the Laser asm are made in china and don't last long.

Try cleaning the lasers lens with an anti static cleaning wipe. I used " nice'n clean" that I had purchased from Walmart to clean my laptop screen. My dvd player started back playing after gently wiping the laser lens.
