Installed new bulb and now there is a loud whirring noise and multi colored flashing on screen

My Mitsubishi 52" DLP recently failed to start up and the red lamp light would then light up. I read the owner's manual and this seems to be a bulb failure although I never received any message that the bulb was nearing the end of its life. I ordered a replacement bulb and plugged it in. The first time I turned on the TV it shut off and the red bulb light turned on again. I waited a while and tried to turn the TV on again. This time the TV started up, but with a very loud and varying in volume whirring (slightly like grinding) noise. The tv then shows multiple colors flashing on the screen. None of the inputs show anything (HDMI or component). I can see the menu but it is distorted and not normal. The whirring noise continues and the TV will maintain this loud whirring noise with flashing colors. With regards to the whirring noise, my TV has always made that noise once turned on, but then very quickly the noise will stop, now it just keeps going. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Sounds like the same problem I had, I bought a new bulb as well, installed it and nothing. I googled that same issue and endedup buying a kit herehttp://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/product_info.php/pName/mitsubishi-v26-dlp-power-pwb-repair-kit/cName/repair-kits/osCsid/145ffde26a9336eaf57c21ff6389def7that came with capacitors that had to be replace, the kit comes with aservice manual and a bag with lots of different capacitors to replaceany out on your board, they are really good at troubleshooting and theyoffer help online. If that is whats wrong with you, you will need asoldering tool, I bought my as a kit at radio shack for $20.00 and plusthe $36.00 for the kit, and a lot of patience, my TV is well andrunning now, it was better than the $600.00 estimate I got from a localrepair shop. Good luck!

How do I open the housing to the color wheel of a Mitsubishi dlp wd65735? The tv has been doing constant flickering and we've checked everything out but the color wheel and can't access it.

Usually the color wheel makes a loud whine noise when it starts to fail or they shatter because they are thin glass. The problem is not likely to be the color wheel. On a previous post I alluded to a problem with the lamp socket. If it is not the lamp then you need to check the power supply for failing components.

Samsung HLS5086WX/XAA made popping noise and shut off, then made whirring noise.

When my TV did this in the past it ended up being the color wheel. I had someone replace it and it worked fine. I asked it if had to be calibrated after it is installed and he said no. Also make sure the door switch is pushed down when you install the back bulb door. Sometimes this switch can go bad as well.

Purchased a new bulb for our Samsung HL-T4675SX DLP TV in October. Less than 3 weeks after the bulb was installed, the TV would not turn on and the three indicator lights on the front of the TV came on,...

ballast failures are not that common in general. i would suspect the color wheel before the ballast. do you hear a whirring noise when the tv is trying to turn on. sometimes the color wheel will not spin correctly and the tv will not start as a result.

Our Mitsubishi WD52525 52" is making a loud buzzing sound. could this be a fan not functioning? We do not have a picture, but have recently replaced the bulb.

This sounds to me like it could be the color wheel or the ballast of the unit. The bulb is always the first step, but it depends on what kind of buzzing you're hearing. The ballast will usually click to ignite the lamp, while it may also buzz when it's not functioning. The color wheel will also buzz if it gets stuck, or rattle when pieces inside are broken.

There is a really loud whirring noise when it

The Color Wheel in the Optical Engine is what is most likely causing the problem. It is a very expensive part and I would call Toshiba at 1800-631-3811 and see if they could help you with the cost and also referring a Service Repair Facility to you.
I hope this helps,

Samsung DLP HL-P4663W - loud whistling noise while the TV is on

That most probably seems to be a future issue with your color wheel, it's starting to go out, you need to identify which one you have before you purchase one, there are two kinds, one with a gold bearing and another one with a silver bearing

Sounds like the color wheel may have also gone bad. I recently saw a 56" Samsung where the bulb and color wheel went at the same time. The color wheel could produce a crying noise while trying to spin up.

Big Screen gets loud, mad and turns off

without a model number, i can't be much help. if this is a newer dlp or similar tv, the fan is probably going out. some newer tv's have a fan that is part of the light assembly, some have a separate fan.. the loud whirring noise is usually caused by bad bearings or the blades of the fan may have become unbalanced, either way, the fan making the noise will need replacing. the color going is usually caused by the lcd or dlp overheating and/or the lamp overheating.

if the tv is out of warranty, remove the back panel, locate the fan making the noise, and search for a replacement. if you have a model number, i can check around and see if i can find the part number for you.

hope this helps,
trin
