I want a ssid number for my psp

Hi,

The SSID(Service Set Identifier) is the ID of a wireless router. If you have a device like a PSP or wireless laptop and you search for available wireless connections you will get a list of available in range networks. What you see is the SSID of access points. This is basically just the name of the router.

If the router is password protected then in order to use your PSP on it you will need to enter the WPA/WEP key(password/security key). If you do not know this information you can click here and read my article which goes over how to obtain the router security key or set one.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Im trying too put the internet on my PSP 3000... but on the psp it said the SSID isnt supported...help plzz

Hi there... There is a point where you enter manually the SSID while trying to connect to your wireless network right? That point is the cue. The SSID you put in your PSP must be THE SAME (ultimately) with the NETWORK NAME, in order to communicate to it directly. Say, if your network is named MYHOME, your SSID in your PSP should also be MYHOME and putting it MY HOME (with space) will result to error. That's apart from the network password (WEP key) that you input in the next field...
Hope this helps...

For some reason i cant get the internet connected to my psp

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to connect their Psp to the internet you need to know the settings of your router. Listed below are the steps on how to access your router. You must use a working computer that is connected to the router and after we obtain the information needed then thats the time we will configure your Psp.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remember the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

How to connect your Psp

1. Open Psp
2. Go to Network Settings
3. Go to Infrastructure Mode
4. New Connection (then select available connection)
5. Under Wlan Setting choose Enter Manually or Scan your SSID
6. SSID (Select your SSID)
7. Wlan Security Setting (WEP/WPA/WPA2)
8. Enter you Network Key
9. Test Connection Settings

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya.

SSID is the Name of your wireless Network

WEP key is the password for your wireless network

You can get these information if you contact your router manufacturer

My PSP internet connection not supported to my access point.

The SSID is the NAME of your Routers connection. So you need to know your WiFi connections Name, That's the "Access point" Security, Is IF you assigned a WEP/WAP KEY, when the router was first setup. If NO Key is set, that is what it means "Unsecured",
You need to get a Netgear router manual, for your exact model, it shows all in pictures how to do it.

How do i get on the internet with my psp

Ok First you have to make sure that you are in a WiFi (Hotspot) area because that is how the psp gets online.

  1. Step1 – Go to Settings and then select Network settings
  2. Step2 – Select Infrastructure Mode and start a [New Connection]. By setting up in Infrastructure Mode, you will be able to take advantage of the more exciting features of the PSP, such as browsing the Internet and playing games online with your friends.
  3. Step3 – Access the WLAN Settings and select scan to search for an SSID of nearby access points. If you find more than one access point, simply connect to the one with the strongest signal.
  4. Step4 – Once an SSID is found, select it (make sure you don’t rename it) and move to the WLAN Security Settings. You should note that if the access point is using WEP encryption, you will need to enter the WEP key manually (when the access point is detected, it will display the type of encryption it is running. WEP key should be displayed on your router. If it displays none, simply move onto the next step.
  5. Step5 – Now you have a couple of choices of either Easy or Custom in Address Settings menu. I suggest you selecting the Easy option which will complete the Infrastructure Mode set-up automatically.
  6. Step6 – Choose your Connection Name and enter it. A Setting List will be displayed. Press x button to save settings.
  7. Step7 – Test Connection to make sure everything works. If all is okay, Network Settings will display Connection Name, Signal Strength, SSID, BSSID, Channel, Security and IP Address.
