Wharfedale DVDRHD400 Coaxial digital sound output

My wharfedale DVDHD400 recorder works fine when except for when I connect it up to my 5.1 Speaker system through the coaxial input. The sound is crackly and jumpy to the point where it is not audible. Standard RCA output works fine, just the SPDIF. I've tried changing the settings to RAW/PCM and it makes no difference.

When the initial set up ran for the DVD recorder it set the correct time and, I assume, the correct date.
However, I had problems with the display and went through various settings until I solved the display problem.
Unfortunately, during the process, which included disconnecting the power, the clock was reset, starting at midnight and 1st January. There appears to be no way to access the clock.
How do I get the recorder to display the correct date/time?

This solution may work for other Wharfedale DVD recorders as well as the DVDRHD400F.
Use your Setup button to acces the 'Setup' menu.
Choose the 'Preferences' menu.
Choose 'Factory Defaults' and click on 'OK'.
The recorder will restore the factory defaults and the first screen it takes you too is the 'Initial Setup' screen where it asks you to enter the correct date and time.

May work on similar dvd recorders. Would help if Wharfedale included this in their users manual.

I've just been given a Wharfedale S-990 Amplifier, Tuner CD etc tower - but without any speakers. Output is 2x50W - but the impedence isn't specified. I'm just looking for advice on what...

Anything in the neighborhood of 8-ohms will usually fly safely with standard audio amplifiers. At only 50w x 2 you want efficient speakers. Watch the volume as this amp may clip if driven too hard. THAT will kill any speaker.

This owner had Valdus 200's and was happy. But just about any quality speaker in the 100w range should work out.

My WHARFEDALE DIAMOND SW150 SUBWOOFER does not work. the light (red) comes on when connected. but no sound. I've tried direct from speaker and from receiver connection. doesn't work. Any advice

I had the exact same thing, no sound at all but light on and heatsink slightly warm. Returned amp module to Wharfedale and it was diagnosed as a fault in the muting circuit and repaired under warranty. Asked for a circuit diagram but they don't give them out while the equipment is still in production.

Progresive scan problem and didn't get picture in tv

Our problem was that we could not get picture on the tv screen but it got sound. We tried to solve it using different techniques like the setup, video source, function keys pressed on remote control by trial(only assumed) and error as we could not see the screen and I used scart with every conection but three point pin was free so I put only one pin in video out put and at that moment I could see the picture on tv.

Wharfedale DVDRHD400 Set up Issue

Hi I had the same problem. The answer is to use a scart lead on the freeview box and connect it to the input/output scart on the DVD. Then connect a scart lead from the TV out on the DVD to the TV. You then press Video source on the DVD remote until 'scart' is displayed to pick the freeview channels. Hope that helps
