My ToshibaSD-1009U is not sensing a DVD after an accidental playing of a Music CD in place of a DVD. The error message is "No Disc" even after a DVD is inserted.

Re:
Some of the panasonic models had motor problems that cuased them to start not reading disks and give a error code on the display. Maybe yours just has a dirty laser pickup and you MIGHT be able to gently clean it off and see if it will play again, other then that it might well be worn out. most newer machines have a dual laser pickup, one is tuned for pressed cd's and DVD 's and the other is tuned for cdrw and dvdrw style disks.

ALL CD's or just one CD? Depends on the file format and the Media Player. Have you tried another Media Player? Does the CD work in another Computer? Did you make the CD? What is the Media on the CD?
Try buying a Laser Lens Cleaner Disc from Wal-Mart, FYE music store, or any other place that might sell DVD players. Your Laser Lens that reads the DVD'S is full of dust. Try using the laser lens cleaner disc i mentioned to clean the laser lens.
My name is ArmyMason, I am here to help you. So you have an issue burning music to CD's. What is the format of the music? MP3, WMA, or WAV? Is the music protected by copyright in which doesn't allow you to burn it to CD? Right click on the song and click properties you will be able to see if its copyright protected there. Also some burning software only works with newer CD drives. I had an issue once burning a DVD with this software I bought because the DVD player wasnt supported. Once I upgraded the DVD Burner I was able to burn DVD's. Those are the only things that could be stopping you from burning music.

Please test your Optical Drive with any bootable Cd/DVD if it gets successfully booted from CD/DVD then your Optical drive do not have any problem.
but if it is not sensing the CD/DVD in boot sequence also then there might me problem with your optical Media Lense also.
You need to replace it
Try cleaning the lens with a cleaner? So it only reads music/Audio CDs and won't play DVDs? Do you get an HO2 or HO7 error? If it is that it might be the spindle motor.
You might try this website also to reflash the firmware:
