Baking element I have a stove model number PLEF398DCB serial - VF44050260 The baking element blew apart, I got a new one, put it in, now the new element does not heat up!! I took the back cover off the stove , don't see any burned wires, don't even get a code as to what is wrong. everything else works fine but the new baking element. HELP thank you KW I have close to the same problem. My elements are not blown apart, but all of the suddden my bake and broil elements do not work at all. Same model...PLEF398DCB

No internal fuses on that model.

Why did you swap out the temperature probe?

Either the new element or the new probe are DOA, or or when the element blew, it fried a connection somewhere.

This indicates that one of the heating elements or control has developed a problem. Can you provide the make and model for this range?? Replace the fuses if blown. Check to see if any element is hot - including those inside the stove. Note any that are. Shut off the stove and unplug it from the outlet. When cold, perform a careful visual inspection of the heating elements on the cooktop AND both the bake and broil elements inside the oven (especially any that were found to be hot earlier). Run your fingers along the blind side of the elements to detect any openings, blobs, etc. in the metal covering of the element. Replace any damaged elements with new. Start the process over again - especially the new element. If found hot - check the control - is it on? The control may need replacement, too. This may require more skills / tools than you have and need a pro. Good luck!

To the owner of the Eaton Viking stove RS3028W-1, yes you CAN get replacement hinges!
I too, have this stove model (circa 1996) with exactly the same problem and I have spent the past 18 months looking for replacement oven hinges. I was very frustrated at the thought of having to throw out a stove that cooks and bakes wonderfully and has not needed any repairs till now and having to buy one of the new subpar ones that constantly need repairs. Plus you can't do canning on the new stoves and the few remaining coil models are extremely poorly made.
I have found 2 places that carry the hinges.
1. Reliable Parts, 1-800-663-6060. This company is located in Montrea (St. Leonard), Quebec.
2. Appliance Shark, 1-800-663-1176. This company is located in Barrie, Ontario.
The part number for the hinge is: 318-024-741

Good Morning Stephanie - Typically you may locate the model and serial number in the storage drawer, on the right side. Based on the symptoms you are describing, you may either have a communication error from the main control board or a faulty bake and/or broiler element. If resetting the unit did not solved the issue, at this point I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the range to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

It sounds like the element shorted out and needs replacement. I would not continue to use the oven, although it should be ok to use the stove.

It's difficult to say what a new element plus installation will be, but you can call around and get estimates. Have the model number, type and serial number available if possible before you call.

Don't worry! Your element probably blew out. It's no big deal. It happens. Call us for parts. 9728590929. It's really a simple repair, probably one of the easiest to do. Hope this helps!

If the surface elements work your ERC is bad.(clock).
If the surface elements do not work check the circuit for 220 volts.
