My bobbin thread breaks too much. How do I fix it.

Be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Even though it appears to fit the bobbin case, if it is the wrong bobbin, it could cause major headaches.

Try a different bobbin. Try different thread.

Also check that the bobbin thread is wound smoothly and turning the correct direction in the bobbin case. Make sure the thread is threaded through the bobbin tension properly.

AVOID old and inexpensive, bargain bin thread!

There could be a nick or burr somewhere that is catching the bobbin thread and breaking it.

Try loosening the bobbin tension a bit. It could be too tight, especially if the bobbin thread is pulling the upper thread down to the underside of the fabric.

There could also be something wrong with the bobbin case itself that may be resolved by trying a new bobbin case (or borrow one from a friend, etc.)

Bobbin Thread Breaking How to Loosen Bobbin Tension

When trying to load the bobbin with thread, only top half threads and is tangled. Has worked great till now.

Difficult to assess without a make & model.

The machine has a tensioner for the bobbin winder. Make sure that you are threading that tensioner before taking it to the bobbin winder. Also, sometimes the thread should make a complete loop around that tensioner (consult your owner's manual). Check that the thread spool is spinning the correct direction--most often the thread spool turns counter-clockwise on the spool pin. Running the thread the wrong direction could cause thread kinks or the thread plies to separate. Slow down the speed that you wind the bobbin. Fast speeds will cause the thread to stretch. Plus, if something goes haywire, you won't have a bobbin bouncing or thread flying all over the sewing room before you can stop the machine. Frequently, the bobbin will fill more in one area of the bobbin. You can gently guide the thread by pushing it up or down lightly with a pencil tip or other object to even the thread distribution on the bobbin.

I have juki 1541 industrial machine needle want pick up bobbin thread??

Is your needle inserted correctly? Try taking it out and inserting again. Is your bobbing threaded correctly? Try taking it out and re-threading. You might also try cleaning the bobbin area. The only other think I can think of is that you may have the wrong needle in.

Bobbin thread breaks

1. There is a right way & wrong way to insert the bobbin in the case --when you insert the bobbin in if it doesn't stitch correctly turn the bobbin over see if that helps or bobbin case is not inserted correctly

2. Lint has collected in the bobbin holder

3. The bobbin is damaged & doesn't turn smoothly

4. Lower thread tension is two tight

The top thread breaks

1. the needle thread is not threaded properly

2. The needle thread tension is to tight

3. The needle is bent or blunt

4. The needle is incorrectly inserted

5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew

6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing

7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

if the sewing machine has a top loading bobbin, you may have to have the sewing machine checked to see if there is something wrong with the bobbin case or the hook and hook race.
I suggest try a new needle--one for the fabric being sewed
also try another bobbin
rethread the sewing machine top and bobbin, using every thread guide.

My ce4000 started jamming up thread under the foot and then it pulls the bobbin case and gets stuck so that it doesn't sew at all

If the thread is getting jammed under the FABRIC then it means the TOP thread is threaded wrong. Just the opposite of what we think it should be. If the thread is looping on the TOP of your fabric it's the BOBBIN thread that's not threaded right. If it's a front loading bobbin, the thread should go over the top of the bobbin to the right before placing it in the bobbin case. Hope this helps!

I have a Bernina 130, the thread from the bobbin is coming out with huge loops, the top thread looks great, but turn over the fabric and you have a mess. Any advice is welcome.

Usually if your bobbin thread is loopy it's because the TOP thread is not threaded right. Try threading it again with the presser foot UP and make sure to get the thread between the upper tension discs. It's just the opposite of what you would think.....if the bobbin thread is loopy, the top thread is threaded wrong, if the top thread is loopy, the bobbin is threaded wrong. Good luck!

My bobbin is bunching and the thread is catching on something internally. It is not sewing anything together and is not tension related. My bobbin case has an imperfection where a needle stabbed it. Do you...

I really think that it is from being threaded wrong, make sure the thread is seated into the top tension disc and that you also have the bottom threaded right through the bobib case. If it is a burr your talking about on the bobin case holder than you can try to lightly sand it off

I have just recently picked up sewing again. Haven't sewn in 30 years. Anyway.... I'm having an ongoing bobbin problem, or at least I think it's the bobbin. When I sew a straight stitch, the top stitch...

I think that is your problem. You should see a little slip in the bobbin holder. Hold the bobbin with one hand and pull the thread through the slot. I think that is where your notches are. The thread should not be real loose coming out of the bobbin. I hope this helps.

Singer 7442 will not sew

Had the same problem as mommyb2 - it was the bobbin spindel was in the wrong position. Push bobbin spindel to the left and it works for sewing.
