I have a Samsung VR3607 VCR that shows that it is in "lock" mode. I cannot turn it on or off, none of the buttons except the tv/vcr works. How can I "unlock" it?
Thank you, I greatly appreciate it!

Re: samsung vr3607 vcr is locked
Following is pasted from SV-7000W manual:
1 To lock the VCR, hold down the P/STILL (II) button for
approximately five seconds.
Result: The lock indicator (LOCK) is displayed.
If a cassette is in the VCR when you lock it, the cassette will
first be ejected.
2 To unlock the VCR, hold down the P/STILL (II) button again for
approximately five seconds.
Result: The lock indicator (LOCK) is no longer displayed.
If that fails, try the same thing using the play/stop button.

There is a problem with the loading basket, or the VHS tape is stuck inside and the eject mechanism can not cycle the tape out. To check this, open the lid so you can see the tape, if it is wrapped around the head and roller, hit the eject button to see if the tape is being pulled or jammed, cut the tape with scissors to free it up to see if it will pop out. If the tape is okay, it means you have a faulty loading basket.
I just had the same problem and found a solution on the internet that worked. Hopefully you still have the VCR's remote control. Press and hold either the on/off, VCR1 or VCR2 button on the remote. I pressed the VCR1 button and held it for about 5-7 seconds. It released the lock and worked fine afterwards. The lock is some kind of childlock devise.
I had the same problem when I got the TV from someone and I didnt have a remote. I went out and got a ONE FOR ALL remote and once I got it set up I had it in VCR mode and hit the AV button and now I can get to the channels. Hope it works for you.
Do you have your operation manual? It will tell you how to set up a timed recording. Recording options are set via the remote. Look for an option as "Scheduled recording" or similiar. Date, start & end time, channel, recording speed are all set.
If you are missing your manual do a google search with your model number. A quick look at the Samsung website was not fruitful.
