Before giving up on it. Test the outlet it was plugged into, to see if there is still power there. If not, a circuit breaker may have tripped or a loose wiring inside the outlet.

It is three and a half years old and ices up even at warm temps.

The problem you're having is generally caused by the air intake filter needing to be removed and cleaned and/or the cooling coils need to be cleaned.

I assume you already know how to remove and clean the filter, since you've had the unit for 3 1/2 years, so I won't bore you by addressing that.

The coils can be cleaned with warm water and a mild dish washing detergent using a sponge or rag. Once they have been wiped down, rinsed and dried, apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

Hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

My dehumidifier fan runs, condenser seems to work but the coils do not get cold so thus no condensation. what can i do to get my humidifier working?

typical for most brands of dehumidifiers.after 2-3 years use the refrigerant/freon leaks out and they wont cool, you can have it recharged, but quite expensive as i charge between $50.00 to $75.00 to do this

When I plug my LG dehumidfiyer Model LHD659EBL I hear a small beep and nothing happens. I can not turn it on or get a light on the panel to even light. This unit is only a few years old and it worked fine...

Remove the water collection bucket and reinstall it. Make sure the bucket fits "squarely" in the holder from top to bottom. The bottom should not tilt down at the bottom, when it's properly installed.
While you have the bucket out, look in the top of the bucket for a float valve. If it has one, it may be stuck in the UP position. Juggle the float arm to get it to return to the DOWN Position and reinstall the bucket as described above.

Either of the tings mentioned above, will cause the unit to not turn ON.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

It will not turn on. Is there a reset button? It worked fine for over 5 years, then it just quit.

Hi, Sounds like the circuit board...they often will just do that...IF you can get one it will be half the cost of a new unit...
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier willnot work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrongwith their dehumidifier

No water in container

I have this model, and mine failed after 2 years. Fortunately it has a 5 year warranty on it. If you haven't cleaned the filter in the front, do that first. Take the bucket out, and then you can pull the filter down. In my case, I was getting an ice block on the front coils, and the warranty place determined it was a bad compressor. LG sent a refurbished model as a replacement for my broken one, and then I had to ship the bad one back in the box they provided. They also provided a return shipping label.

Turns on but the motor doesn't run anymore

If it is the compressor it will be best to just replace the unit as repair will exceed the cost of new. If it is the fan motor it would be feasible to replace. To determine would require the use of a meter to see if motor gets voltage. If nothing works it could be as simple as a new power switch. Unfortunately in this venue I can only surmise. I wish you luck!

Goldstar Dehumidifier model# DH305Y7

Unfortunately this is quite common for most DH's of this type. The only one that I have found that does not have a reputation for losing the fan or compressor after a year or two is the Whirlpool.

Compressor won't run

the over-current relay is tripping out the compressor motor to prevent excessive current through motor windings. To prove this theory, open unit, find motor wires, disconnect wires from unit, and apply 120VAC to motor using external circuit-breaker source. Run 2 minutes max. If motor continuously turns, then relay is failing. Find it by tracing wires back to source and finding a small rectangular item. If motor again quits after 2 seconds, then this motor has an internal over-current self-resetting fuse that may be doing its job of preventing an electrical overload from a dead (shorted) motor.
