NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
The icemaker is 110v
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Scotsman cm3 656 water will run but will not harvest unless I push the harvest button. Water will continue to run unless I turn it off. Could this be a bad well pump or a water level sensor gone bad?

If your Scotsman CM3 656 ice machine is not harvesting ice automatically and water continues to run unless you turn it off, there could be several possible causes. Here are a few things you can check:
  1. Check the water level sensor: The water level sensor is responsible for detecting the level of water in the sump and controlling the fill and harvest cycles. If the sensor is faulty, it could cause the ice machine to not harvest ice automatically. Check the sensor for any damage or debris, and clean or replace it if necessary.
  2. Check the water inlet valve: The water inlet valve controls the flow of water into the ice machine. If the valve is stuck open, it could cause water to continue to run into the machine. Check the valve for any damage or debris, and replace it if necessary.
  3. Check the temperature sensors: The ice machine has temperature sensors that monitor the temperature of the evaporator plate and control the harvest cycle. If the sensors are faulty, it could cause the machine to not harvest ice automatically. Check the sensors for any damage or debris, and replace them if necessary.
  4. Check the control board: The control board is the brain of the ice machine and controls all of its functions. If the board is faulty, it could cause the machine to not harvest ice automatically or to continue to run water. Check the board for any damage or corrosion, and replace it if necessary.
It is unlikely that a bad well pump would cause these symptoms, as the water is still running into the machine. However, if you suspect there is an issue with your water supply, you should check your water pressure and flow rate to make sure they are within the manufacturer's recommended specifications.

If the water is cut off to the house, will the Scotsman ice machine automatically shut down?

I don't know the answer but you can go to the Scotsman website and they have manuals for their various machines.

Water keeps running and the ice maker isn't making ice

The ice maker will not make ice with the water running in contently this keeps the water temp to high. Turn machine off, cut water supply off to machine, remove water inlet valve, ether take valve apart and rebuild it or replace the water inlet valve. Reassemble in reverse order and machine should make ice.

Scotsman ice machine water runs continually never shuts off. It will make ice but really racks up water bill. It is as if the float never senses the reservoir is full. What is my problem?

OK is the bin full of ice to where the ice stops making ? and is the water running over into the ice bin. If this is whats happening then cut the machine off, If water is still coming into sump tray then pull the water inlet valve and replace it. If the water stops when you shut the machine off then check the water float or sensor since i don't know what model you have, If float then replace it , if probe sensor then replace it. Now if there is no water running over into ice bin during freeze cycle then nothing is wrong ice machines use a lot of water every time it go's into a harvest it dumps the water in the sump tray.

Is it dumping water or is it pouring water back into the ice bin? if it is pouring water back into ice bin than check your water float to make sure it is not calling for water also make sure the water valve is not letting water seep buy you can cut power to machine and if you here water still entering sump tray then replace water valve. if not then turn machine back on check and see it the water full light is on if so and water is still entering sump tray then replace float switch. If water full light is not on and the sump tray is full of water than remove the water sensor and clean or replace it.

Should a scotsman ice machine automatically stop making ice once the bin is full

Yes, all ice machines have a means of automatic shut down when the bin is full. What is the model number of your machine and your bin?

The ice at the bottom of the bin for the automatic ice maker melts then freezes into a solid block. Is there a fix for this?

Good day,
If the machine both the freezer and fresh food section work totally normal, and the machine turns off and on as it normally has, then the problem usually lies with the water valve in the bottom back of the machine.
The ice maker, when it fills is designed to fill for a 7 second period of time. Many times, when the ice maker tells the valve to shut off, the valve due to wear, reacts slowly, and allows water to overflow the well of the ice maker, causing this problem. Very common problem.

The ice cube tray in the automatic ice maker overfills with water. After the ice dumps, the water for the refill overflows the tray and some goes in the dump bin.

Good day,
Sounds like a bad water valve located in the rear bottom of the machine. (not shutting down properly).
Solution is to replace the valve.
In extremely rare cases it can be a faulty ice maker.
The ice maker sends power to the water valve for 7 seconds on each cycle. If the circuit board in the ice maker malfunctions, it could cause this problem.
But again, very rare.
