I'm unable to connect my digital camera to my Windows XP computer via the USB port. When I check the USB 2.0 Controller in the Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark (!) next to it. When I check on the status of the USB 2.0 Controller, the following message appears: The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28). What do I do now?
SOURCE: ERROR: code 28 -- Windows XP & USB 2.0
This message appears because Windows XP did not originally support the USB 2.0 specification. However, as of May 2002, the final release version of the Microsoft USB 2.0 drivers for Windows XP is available at the Windows Update Site. The driver is designated Microsoft USB Driver Version 5.1.2600.0.
