the knocking is either a belt that is going or one of the wheels is broken(they ride on three or four wheels). and those fixes are fairly inexpensive. but if it is also not heating, that can be inexpensive or not. maybe a new one, or fairly new via craigslist. how old is your dryer. over 10-12 years, maybe replace this one

replace the motor brushes this is common it wont spin or do main cycles but easy go it does is worn brushes
take one and and check the lenght if its less than 50mm replace them
when they get shorter the motor draws more standing current etc running hotter so....
also check the vacume switch and for and rubbish inside the drum skin

Possible drum bearing. Check for any knocking by turning drum by hand whilst empty.

either the pressure switch is bad or the pressure switch hose from the wash tub to the pressure switch is kinked or plugged so air pressure cant reach switch and operate switch,remove hose at tub and blow into it and see if machine now operates,if not the switch is bad

Sounds like timer needs replacing

you most probably have either a bad brake/clutch mechanism or a bad transmission.  

My whirlpool heavy duty 2 speed 7 cycle washer machine stopped working, It fills up and aggitates for the first cycle then when it should drain and spin it doesnt drain nor spin

CHECK THE FUSE ON THE LID SWITCH BELOW THE TIMER. IF ITS BLOWN YOU NEED THE LID SWITCH ***.SOMETIMES EVEN IF ITS NOT BLOWN THE SWITCH IS BAD

the pump is plugged gain axcess to the pump and remove the restriction get your wet/dry vac remove the water in the tub and have handy also a small bucket to once you remove the cap to remove the object then it will go into spin

Doe,s the water come on when it stops, it may have something to do with the balance of the washing load, if the water comes on it,s trying to rebalance it self.
