I have a Fun! Flash 640 digital camera which I have used on a previous computer. I just got a new computer which is equipped only with USB ports. Is there an adapter I can buy?
A 9-pin serial connection must be available on your computer to connect a PhotoMAX Fun! Flash 640 digital camera.
This camera model does not have a USB driver, so a USB-to-serial adapter will not function properly.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
I have three different digital cameras. I use the scanner and camera wizard to download my pics.
The second option, if you use SD card with your camera, then you can get a USB 2.0 SD Memory Card Reader/Writer.
The Polaroid PDC 640 digital camera connects to an available 9-pin serial port only -- it does not support the use of a USB/serial converter.
However, you can use a SmartMedia Card Reader with the camera's reremovable memory to download the images via the USB port to your computer.
Windows 2000
A new camera TWAIN driver (version 0.1) compatible with Windows 2000 is now available for download. The new TWAIN driver will allow photo transfer using most image viewing or editing programs that are TWAIN compatible.
NOTE: In order for the version 0.1 driver to work correctly, the PhotoMAX software must also be compatible with Windows 2000.
The PhotoMAX SE software originally included with the Fun! Flash 640 is not compatible with Windows 2000.
If you use your camera and computer with the original PhotoMAX SE software, contact the Polaroid Parts Department for more information about purchasing a PhotoMAX software upgrade.
Windows NT4
No TWAIN driver is available for use with Windows NT4.
Yes, you can use your Polaroid Fun! Flash digital camera with many popular image-editing software applications. The Fun! Flash is TWAIN-compliant and comes with its own image acquisition software, which is automatically installed when you install PhotoMAX.
Just open your image-editing software and select Polaroid Fun! Flash as your acquisition source.
None of the Polaroid digital cameras listed below can be used as a
"web cam." All of these models are designed for taking still images only.

Certain computer hardware and software configurations conflict with PhotoMAX or PhotoImpression software. As a result, you may not be able to transfer 320 x 240 dpi photos from your Polaroid Fun! Flash 640 digital damera. This problem does not occur if you use the camera's default resolution of 640 x 480 dpi.
