If you are accessing the internet from your computer through the 2wire gateway, then the problem is with the IPad settings. I have used many of the apple devices on my 2wire gateway, as well as my parent's 2wire gateway. I would suggest taking your IPad to a local apple store, or best buy and see if it will connect to their networks.

Also, if you keep it in a case, 3rd party cases have been known to block wireless signals from reaching the internal antenna well.

Good Luck!

I need to find my att dsl internet security key to sign on wireless my moden is a 2wire 2701hg

Open INTERNET EXPLORER and. (In the URL address field), enter the IP address for your wireless router ( the DEFAULT GATEWAY. This information should be contained in your router's manual. If you cannot find it, enter "198.168.1.1" as the address. This is usually the default IP address for most routers.do not type "www" just the number
Enter the username and password for your router. This should also be supplied in the router's manual. If you don't have this information, go to routerpasswords.com and find the brand and model of your router. This site lists the default login information for most wireless routers you can try "ADMIN" for user name and "PASSWORD" for passsword.
You should now be able to see your wireless router settings. You can configure your network ports, as well as SSID (wireless network name) and passwords.aka security key

Where and how do i find my access point I'am trying to set up a wireless internet connection

Hi Kregerbc,

If you want to know your Access Point it is the Name of your Network or Network Key (SSID). Usually the Network Name of 2wire router is 2WIRE and the Last 3 digits of the Serial Number of the Router. The Serial Number is located at the side of the router you will find a Sticker and look for the Serail Number you can also see there the Wireless Network Key under the Bar Code. Another Procedure to find the information of the router is to access it. listed below are the steps on how to access the router.

  • Open a Web browser and type http://gateway.2wire.net or http://192.168.1.254; the 2Wire Home page opens.
  • Click the Home Networking tab at the top of the 2Wire Home page.
  • Click on Wireless Settings. then click EDIT SETTINGS located on the right panel.
  • Here you will be able to fine the setting for your Wireless Connection
  • You can change the SSID, Wireless Channel, Wireless Security, and Network Key

the default wireless passowrd or network key is located at the bottom left of the 2wire router. You will find a sticker that indicates the Serial Number, System Password and Wireless Network Key. The Wireless Network Password is is the 10 Digit Code located under the S/N.

You can also change the Network Name or SSID, The Authentication and the Wireless Network Key

My linksys wireless pc card is not able to connect to the 2wire router which is made by gateway, but the internet provider is at&t. How do I make it work?

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that you have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

My ethernet keeps on blinking and the wireless has no light,

If the wireless light does not come on at all,
on the working computer, type (gateway.2wire.net) in internet explorer, on the top, click on "Home Network".
on the right under "Status at a Glance", make sure the "Disable" button is showing besides "Wireless", but dont click it.
But If yours says "Enable", click on it.

If that does not work, make sure that you are connecting to the right network. the name will be shown in the same section as above. The password is on the bottom of the modem/router on the sticker.

Connecting 2wire router with desktop pc and laptop

hi! try to check the settings on your 2wire modem, you can do this by going to gateway.2wire.net, run the system setup wizard, when you get to the ppp authentication page, check the username & password on it, it should be the one that you setup for your ISP account. as for the wireless on the desktop, it depends on the brand of the wireless adapter, be sure you have installed the drivers for this adapter. you may need to go to the client utility manager or the wireless adapter shortcut/icon on your computer screen then configure it to "see" the 2wire network. make sure wireless encryption is turned on in the 2wire modem's MDC, you can do this by going to homeportal/management, or go to gateway.2wire.net/mdc.

Plz help me

make sure wireless switch is turned on in the laptop. it would be great to know what type of operating system you are using on this laptop. if it's XP, go to network connections on the control panel, right click it then view available wireless networks, you should be able to see your 2wire network. if it's on vista, go to start, connect to, then choose your 2wire network. if you're running Mac, click on the airport icon, then select the 2wire. all these things will let you type in a security key, just type the nos. enclosed in brackets at the bottom of your 2wire modem (just below the serial nos.)
