I accidentally dropped something on my computer and it wouldn't start up after that. Had a friend who's "good with computers" look at it and he said the motherboard was junk. He installed a new one...but he took it upon himself to add more stuff I did not need like a new hard drive, new dvd drive, etc...Now, the computer does not recognize my firepod, which is the only thing I need it for. He tried to locate the drivers for it and put it on the new harddrive, but still it won't work. Any ideas? I bought a new firewire card and tried that and it didn't work either.

Asus zenbook wouldn't start

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

How do I clear the memory completely? Deleting isn't working.

Right click the disk in 'my computer' and select 'format' you'll get a warning about "formatting removes all the data".

Make sure that you select your MP3 player otherwise you'll wipe your computers HDD and that wouldn't be good.

How do you reset the computer on a ford windstar

Based on what you're indicating, it sounds like a wiring harness or connection was disturbed during the oil change. This is common where the oil filter is not easily reached and parts need to be removed to access the oil filter.
Normally I'd recommend looking for a loose clip or wire yourself but since you mentioned it was immediately after the oil change, I'd consider going back to where the oil was changed let them know the problem started when you left the service station and must have been due to something they did. Apart from that, I wouldn't recommend trying to "reset" the computer at this time. If you've a loose connection it wouldn't help and losing power to the computer to reset it could leave you with no stereo.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Nikon Transfer, iPhoto, or Windows Photo Gallery.
