How much do you know about electronics and can you solder? There is 1 sure way to find out if high voltage splitter is bad disconnected the Flyback transfomer from it /If set comes on and stays on splitter is bad.Make sure you place high votage lead from flyback where it cannot shock you.or short out anything near chassis.Also check little round blue capacitor behind Hori output they go bad 1200pf 2kvolts. This set i think has 2 STK392-??? big black ics if one of them is shorted set will not come on.Its up to you on fix or throw away

honestly i dont know much about tv's but i was told the transformer in question resembles a distributor on a car but i dont see such an item in my tv set!!
