Canon PIXMA iP6700D InkJet Photo Printer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 12, 2011

I have a Canon iP6700D. I refill my carts. I have a resetter and use it every time. This time the printer won't recognize the magenta cart. I refilled it, reset it and replaced it as always. I can't get beyond the screen telling me it doesn't recognize the magenta cart. Is there a series of button pushes, unplug/replugs that will reset the printer? Thanks, in advance for any assistance.

If your printer did not good in times of reseting the cartridges do check the cartridge holder if the is some dirt inside or the terminal of your cartridge had wet by the ink when you refill the ink of your cartridges.

How do I reset the ink cartridge for my canon mg5220

Yes, you will get that message. You may be able to buy a "chip resetter" for your carts. I've had good experience with this supplier of resetters, refillable carts and refill ink:

That's the problem with Generic carts. Use either Genuine carts or Resettable Carts.

You may have accidentally installed updated firmware in your printer, so it doesn't recognize the carts anymore. You may have to "reset" the chips on your carts.
If resetting the carts doesn't help, I'd suggest contacting the place you got the refillable carts.

Ink Cartridge in Canon iP 1300 is not recognised by the Printer. It is showing the following error message "An error occurred. Some ink cartridges cannot be recognized." and a message box is...

All of the newer printers have ink tanks that are 'chipped out', meaining that you can't just refill a tank with a syringe like in the olden days. If the printer reads the 'chip' on that tank and it says it's empty - it won't work even though there is ink in it.
Some refill places just put ink back into used tanks, but DO NOT have a chip re-setter, so the printer does not either: 1) recognize the tank, or 2) thinks it is still empty.
I have had very, very good luck with an on-line company called ABCINK.com for my Canon MX700. A five pack ( 2 Black carts. and one each of cyan, magenta and yellow) costs me only $18.95 delivered w/shipping. Genuine CANON carts. would have been almost $100.
Your Canon 300 is older than dirt. I know, I had one. Try another ink tank or attempt to CLEAN the print heads and nozzles. But really, I bought one of these old dinosaurs for $30 bucks 10 years ago, so you may want toss this 'boat anchor', because as soon as you, and if you, can get it back up and running - something else will fail.
Go drop $60 on a brand new 4-in-one printer that scans in documents & pictures, can scan in a printed page and convert it to a Word doc using OCR (Optical Character Recognition), makes copies, prints from your computer and has an Automatic Document Feeder and Reader so that you can load up 50 pages to copy, scan or whatever. (Also, it might be time to replace that old Penty 3 processor. FWM, Freekin' Wal-Mart has some ****-Jimdy 15.6 laptops for $325 - $350 out the door with tax and a whole ONE year warranty.)
DO NOT BUY A H-*** MACHINE. THEY ARE JUNK. THEY ALL OVERHEAT & JUST RECENTLY THEY QUIT MAKING THEM. REMEMBER THAT COMCRAP (COMPAQ) GOT BOUGHT BY H-***, SO NO **** FROM COMCRAP EITHER.)

Reinsert the cart and make sure that the support is secured above the cart top. If it is recognized: OK.

If not unplug from power. take all carts out.Wait five minutes.Reconnect machine to power.wait until machine demands carts. reinsert cart as demanded..
Machine should run a short cleaning cycle.

Printer won't print magenta

So what does the machine do: Not recognizing the cart (error: insert magenta) or does it not print onto the paper?

In 1# case: Reinsert the magenta cart and make sure that the support is secured above the cart top. If it is recognized: OK.

If not unplug mfc from power. take all carts out. Wait five minutes. Reconnect machine to power. wait until machine demands carts. reinsert cart as demanded and give the right answers (see display).
Machine should run a short cleaning cycle.

In 2# case: Insert full carts well. press menu then start mono (blue) then fourtimes arrow-up (te-index). machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4. machine will initialize the carts. after some cleaning cycles machine will be
in mentaenance mode again. Press 9 then 9 to leave mode. press ink etc. to run a test print. If it fails and you cant see any magenta, the valve or filter is clogged and cant be fixed anymore.

PIXMA MP160 ink level reset

If you hold the resume/stop button on the printer for 10 seconds when you go to print it shouldn't give you anymore messages about that cartridge. This printer never forgets a cartridge and you may have to do it for each one you buy, unless you always refill the same one.  For a PC you can disable the status monitor of the ink by going into control panel, printers & faxes then right clicking on your printer. click properties. pick the maintenance tab then "view printer status" button. click option the click enable status monitor .. then click OK.  If you do this your printer will never tell you if ink is low anymore.
hope this helps everybody.  I know I was frustrated about it!!
