Eureka boss 4d 5893 AVZ Brush roll is not turning. Belt is on properly and I believe it's seated correctly on both sides. When the brush roll is removed, only one side seems to rotate, while the other side remains stationary. I am aware of the reset button and it trips when I turn the unit on. Shouldn't the roll be able to turn freely when it's put on, and turned off?

SOURCE: Eureka the boss vacuum cleaner brush won't turn

Take the top cover off, remove the torx screws on each side of the motor housing, remove the screw on the back holding the hose, then you just have to compare the 2 before putting on the new one. Can't tell for sure without a model number to get you a picture. What isn't on the new base, take off the old base and put it on the new one.

SOURCE: Reset button for Eureka 431 bagless upright???Where is it?!

If the red light is one the says "check brushroll" then you have to take it apart to find out what the problem is. It might be that the roll has too much stuff rapped around it so you have to take it out and clean. It could also be the rubber belt is not properly in place. Once you take the bottom off the belt should go on the far right side. Those are the only things i can think of. I have had mine for 3 years and have never seen a reset switch. Usually when my light comes on it is because there is a lot of hair rapped around my brush roll.

SOURCE: Roller brush will not turn on Eureka "The Boss Power Plus" 12 amp

Depending on the model there will be a couple of screws on the top plastic cover. The cover lifts off and the belt is then serviceable. On some models you will need to remove some parts on the bottom too to get the roller out.
In any case just look for screws that hold the covers on and explore a bit. You can't break anything.

I replaced the belt in our Eureka Boss Smart Vac, it still seems loose, it uses a type R belt. The beater belt still doesn't seem to turn properly and seems that it doesn't pick up very well when I use it...

Check to see that the beater brush is not frozen up. Pull the brush and clean it, spraying some WD40 on each end piece that holds the brush in place. Also be sure the belt is properly installed so that the brush turns in the correct direction. If the brush is not turning or not turning in the correct direction, it will not beat the dirt from the carpet so that it can be picked up by the vacuum's suction.

My Eureka Boss vacuum belt keeps breaking

I have been searching the machine for something which could be rubbing against the belt to cause it to fray and break as often as it does. So far, I haven't found anything. I have heard that the belts, called ribbon belts, are terrible! I find that the belts break faster when I use the hose. I haven't found a way to make a belt last longer.

The brush roll on my Eureka Bagless The Boss 4 dimension cleaning vaccum itsn't working. How do I fix it?

Take either the plate over the brush roll off, if it doesn't come off, then the top cover comes off, should be 2 or 3 screws on the top to remove. Then you can get to the belt and brush roll. Check the brush roll, make sure the ends turn freely, if not replace it. The belt is either broke or stretched to the point that it won't turn the roll, replace it.

Looking for Eureka belt 70646A for a Eureka The Boss upright

I just replaced the belt on my Eureka The Boss Smart Vac (Model 4870D). I purchased a namebrand Eureka R belt from a local vendor. I did my best to follow the instructions printed on the bottom of the machine. I turned on the vacuum cleaner and the belt brush was spinning! I dropped it into vacuuming floor mode and the belt wouldn't spin no matter what level I put it on.

I called the manufacturer (1-800-282-2886) and spoke with a very nice woman on the phone. While I was speaking with her I noticed that a silver screw was lodged within the "brush roll control" yellow selector switch. With some shaking it became dislodged and I was able to put the "brush roll control" into the hard floors setting and turn the "carpet height adjustment" all the way to the right, so that it was facing the word "low." I then followed the instructions for replacing the belt again.. (1) remove base plate (2) remove brush roll (3) place new belt around motor shaft and then around brush roll (4) insert left side of brush roll before right side (5) rotate brush roll to be sure belt is centered (6) replace base plate, making sure to insert under 4 little tabs before securing with screws.

It appears that it is very important that the carpet height and brush control adjustment are set to their highest point possible (hardwood setting) in order to get the brush to roll in a carpet setting.

"R" is the correct belt for the 4870 and should be correct for all other 4800 models.

Thank you for posting your problem to this website. If I hadn't seen that others were having trouble, I would have just given up. I hope this long post helps someone that was in my situation.

BOSS 5851 Wide Track, 12 Amp

The top comes off to get to the belt and brush roll. Did you check the brush roll to make sure that the ends turn freely, or is one not turning, the belt is a lon life "U" part #61120A. The brush roll is what drives the vacuum, but if brush roll or belt is bad, then it won't drive it.

Vacuum doesn't go into carpet mode

If the model number is 5892AVZ, either the brush roll is bad or the brush roll motor isn't coming on to drive the brush roll. There is a circuit breaker, make sure it didn't trip, reset it if it has.
