    Hi

My problem is that the shutter button does not work, and when I load film the camera does not know that there is film in it.

    Any ideas

Wow! I have the same problem. Everything works exept the shutter. When I load film the camera says there is none.Batteries are brand new. No indications anywhere of a problem but no shutter and no film.

SOURCE: I have a Nikon N90S,

Have you tried replacing the batteries? It sounds like the batteries may just be too low to wind film, but can function without a load.

I can't remember if the N90S has the vertical grip release or not, but if it does, have you attempted to use it, to see if the camera functions from that release, or on fully manual settings with a cable release? Are there any error messages reading out on the LCD top panel or in the viewfinder? Are you using an attached flash? What settings are you using?

If it's not functioning, on any settings including manual with film loaded, then it's most lilely in need of a visit to a repair shop to figure out where the issue lies.

But, I'd try new batteries first.

Nikon Nikkor 50mm F/1.4 D SIC AF will not auto focus anymore after drop

Hi Bob.
This lens does´nt have an internal focus motor, this only works with an in-camera focus motor. So, if it is stuck after drop, there is a bend over the focus barrel. This means the manual focus will not work neither. If manual focus works normally, there an electronic problem at the PCB (broken element).

F-- showing on viewfinder on nikon F5

This indicates that the camera isn't communicating with the lens. Not surprising, since the 55 2.8 Micro has no electronics for communicating with the camera.
This does not mean that the lens cannot be used, however. You simply have to switch to the Manual exposure mode and set the exposure yourself.

Nikon slr 35mm

What do you want? For features, get the F5. For lack of weight, get the N75.

Nikon F50

It is possible to damage Nikon SLRs by attaching them to certain older pieces of equipment. There are two main issues that you may encounter.

There are a series of contacts inside the lens mount that must be in good condition for correct operation of the camera. If the older gear causes these to bend or break, the camera will require repair. Look inside the lens mount using a flashlight to see if there is any sign of scraping or that the contact pins look damaged.

Many Nikon SLRs have a ring on the outside of the lens mount that has a small tab sticking up. The ring is supposed to rotate freely and the tab should interface with part of a Nikkor lens of AI-S or AF vintage. Earlier non-AI-S lenses or accessories could compress the ring or break the pin or both. If you can get the ring to rotate freely again, you might be able to get the camera to function. If the tab is broken or the ring is stuck or both, your camera will need professional repair.
