Why do you have to press talk to answer the pdone

There prolly is a red and green button. Press the green button to talk. Red to hang up.

What model and make is your phone?

To Page another phone to initiate intercom:-

From the base station - press Find hs/Intercom.
From a handset - Press Intercom/clear.

Then select the station you want to talk with or All to
page all stations at the same time.

To answer a page:-

From the base station - press Find hs /Intercom or Speaker.
From a handset - press Intercom/clear or Talk/Flash.

When the headset is connected to your fone and there is an incoming call, just press the small button on the headset and you will be able to answer the call.

Have you tried the "key dance" to see if there are codes?

With engine off and key off, rotate to run (not start), then off, then run, then off and finally run. Watch odometer window and see if you see P-codes or the word pdone.

If you see pdone, there are no codes. As the Gen 1 Durango's age, there ar quite a few emissions/evap rubber hoses under the hood and down by the transfer case that eventually dry out and crack.

Making an intercom call
1 Press {INTERCOM}
2 Select the handset you want to page
by pressing the desired handset
number ({1} – {6}).
To stop paging, press {OFF}.
3 When you finish talking, press
{OFF}.
Answering an intercom call
1 Press {handset icon} or {speaker icon} to answer the
page.
2 When you finish talking, press
{OFF}.
Note:
When the ringer volume is set to off,
the handset rings at the low level for
the intercom calls.

To answer an incoming call whilst you are on the phone:
Press and hold the "2" button. Your first caller is put on hold and you can talk to your second caller.
To revert back to the original caller, press and hold the "2" button again.

Steps

1. Call your friend.
2. Tell them that you will connect your other friend.
3. Press talk to put your first friend on hold.
4. Dial your second friend's number.
5. Press talk again.
6. Wait for them to answer.
7. When they have answered, press talk again to bring the first friend back on the line.
8. You made a three way call!

Option 2

1. You can press the button that says 'flash' on the phone.
2. Then dial the number.
3. Press flash again.

Option 3

1. While on the phone dial a number and press call/talk.
2. When the dialed number answers press the options button.
3. Select merge/join/combine calls or press call/talk again

hello shaziniaz how to use your call waiting function is when you are on a call or when you are talking to someone on your phone there will be a beeping sound in your ear just tell the person you are talking with to hold on, and must look if the a call coming in you will see hold and answer you put the person on hold and then press answer and talk with person and call waiting after you finish you press back hold and talk back to the person you was talking with before. thank have a lovely day

wow, no one has posted a response for this poor sap. I don't know what to do, but someone should at least post some insight!
Personally, I think it may be a power issue, as possibly the current going to the phone is not stable, so it is interfering with the machine's abilities to listen for someone else picking up on the other end.
