Frigidaire dishwasher motor sqeels when it comes on, lower blade wont spin. nothing clogged, took apart everything down to the impellar. impellar doesnt spin to send water to blade but the back fly wheel on motor bracket (for cooling?) spins when motor comes on. could it be motor, or the barrels/macerator shaft assembly broke?

Sounds like an impeller and seal kit you will need I think you impeller jammed up and the shaft stripped out the impeller or your motor shaft snapped

SOURCE: frigidaire dishwasher...

It is very possible that something could be obstructing the main pump. But, first. Does your dishwasher fill with enough water? When full, the water level should fill to just below the heating element. You can check this by waiting for the fill cycle to stop and the normal wash cycle to begin. Open the door and check the water level. If your dishwasher isn't getting enough water, you could have a bad fill valve, or the inlet water line could be kinked. If this isn't the case, then suspect that you might have a clogged pump. Food particles such as popcorn kernels, orange or lemon seeds, small chicken bones and glass are notorious for getting into the pump screen area and obstructing the water flow (some of the other items I have found are labels off jars, bottle top seals, twist ties, rib bones, hair scrunchies, and yes - even band-aids!). Even though some dishwasher manufacturers advertise some amazing capabilities of their dishwashers, you still need to scrape your dishes of all food particles as much as possible. This does not mean you have to pre-wash prior to loading them. Anything that doesn't get dissolved by the wash cycle and detergent will end up sitting in the pump well. If the pump isn't able to pump enough water, your dishwasher will fill normally, but the spray arms will not turn, detergent does not dissolve and your dishes will not come clean. To get to the pump, you need to remove the lower spray arm and the coarse screen (located directly under the lower spray arm). The pump well should be located under the coarse screen. Look for anything that may restricting the water flow. I hope this helps and it's easy fix for you.

SOURCE: dishwasher not washing

By chance have you cleaned the spray arm out lately? There could be something blogging the water from getting into the arm. In most dishwashers, the arm only spins because water pressure makes it spin.

I found on my first dishwasher the arm holes were plugged. I had to clean out each and every hole with a small wire. They would not even turn until I cleaned them God luck.

LG LDF6810ST dishwasher won't clean and spin arms properly

Check for a worn bushing washer on the lower arm. Also, make sure the arms are clean inside - they are propelled by reaction from the water jets spraying out, and clogs will prevent proper water flow through the jet orifices. Sometimes food debris will get through the pump and cause this problem. The diverter valve may also have trash inside clogging it and keeping from seating properly - this could account for both low pressure at the spray arm and water coming out of the lower rack when it should not.

Won't drain, I think it might be clogged. I don't know how to get the thing that spins (washes) the water around out so I can take off teh drain cover.

Hello CA Johnson, Without the brand and model number for your particular dishwasher, I can only provide you with some general information that should help you out.

First, open up the dishwasher and remove the lower dish rack. Now while holding the spray arm with one hand, grasp the bottom hub, under the spray arm. While holding the hub section, just under the spray arm, turn the spray arm conterclockwise to unlock it from the base hub. That should allow it to spin free of the locking slots that hold in onto the lower hub section.

If that doesn't do it, try turning it clockwise instead. Some dishwasher brands are designed with different rotation directions, so give both a try to get it off.

Once you have that off, you should be able to get the sump cover/strainer off and get into the sump section to explore possible obstructions. Be careful as sometims a glass will get broken and small pieces will become lodged in the sump/pump and cause a failiure to drain properly. Also, check the Air-break device, if your dishwasher has one. It is typically installed at the corner of the kitchen sink and is about a 1" diameter metal cap. Remove the cap and clean out the filter under the metal decorative cover. Again, not all dishwasher have these installed on them.

Also, check your drain connection at the sink, sometimes the dishwasher drain hose is hooked to a disposal and it can become clogged at the connection on the side of the disposal. By removing the hose from the disposal, you can also blow back thru the hose and see if you get air going into the dishwasher, which will confirm that the problem is in the sump section of the dishwasher.

I've seen many dishwashers with small pieces of plastic, glass, metal, etc. that have worked their way into the sump (and into the discharge pump) and they have almost completely worn down the impellar fins/blades on the pump, requiring replacement of the pump impellar.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

WASHER WONT DRAIN

Take off the lower panel ( 2 screws on bottom) pullout and down to remove. Make sure unit is unplugged pump is on the right hand side one hose coming from bottom of tub and the other goes out the back to the drain. Take off the hose from the bottom of the tub and be ready to catch alll the water in the tub suggest you use shop vac and remove all water first. look in the impellar in pump should be a clog right there then put everything back the way you toook it off and be careful to get the hose back on the way you took it off there is a slot in the hose and a tab on the pump for alignment.

My dishwasher is not washing dishes on the top rack...

HI,

The top rack is not cleaning because of low water pressure from the wash motor to the upper spray arm.
Assuming the top spray arms are clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). While holding the chopper blade, reach inside the "D" shaped opening on top of the motor and spin the wheel/motor by hand in each direction to make sure either the chopper gear or the motor gear that drives the chopper is not broken. Replace the chopper if necessary . If the motor gear is broken, replace the sump and motor assembly . Remove any debris from the sump area in the process.
You don't have to shut the power off to the dishwasher because the door will be open, but if you feel more comfortable, do so.

thanks,

Impeller is spinning counter clockwise on the wash motor.

Did anyone find out why the motor was spinning what seemed to be the wrong direction? My motor went out and I installed and new one same connectors and everything. Then the dishwasher wouldn't clean I bypassed the door switch and view the wash cycle and the arms weren't turning.. they are clean and not damaged. So I took it apart and viewed the impeller turning what appears to be the wrong direction.. even spinning to where the dull side off the chopper blade is the leading edge... could there be an issue with my new motor or a circuit board or some other issue. Wondering if there is a way to change the motor rotation with out causing other issues

Frigidare Dishwasher/rolls around

Nick, check the spray arms themselves to make sure they are not clogged, cracked or split. You have a seperate wash and drain motor on this model. It could be the filter under the lower spray arm is completely clogged with food gunk. You would have to remove the spray arm and get down to the filter. The wash motor itself has a small impeller on the end. It may be broken or the motor itself is bad. You would have to pull the dishwasher, the wash motor comes off very easily with just a couple of screws and you can examine the impeller. Catriver...post back
