can someone please tell me if the W1 has nightshot mode? There is no review of this camera here on dpr and in the quick spec sheet Phil has put together it doesnt say one way or the other.
Also, can you attach filters to the lens if you use an adapter barrel that connects to the camera body??

This is the solution, I would only add that it's on the top of the camera itself. Not in the digital menu or backlight button. On my older version, it's between the cassette and lens sections of the camera.
Never having used the nightshot before, my sister left me with the same quandary...
The Sonys with Nightshot are best at IR, IMHO. The W1 does not have this feature. I imagine it could take IR pics in Manual mode, but the exposures would have to be so long that picture quality would suffer to an unacceptable degree, IMO. The V1 has nightshot, and the price on them has come way down since the V3 was introduced. If you want to get into IR, I suggest a V1.
