Re:
There are a number of things to check:
* You should first make sure that the PC that you are synchronizing with has an IR port.
* If you have Palm software loaded, you should disable it.
* If your PC has an IR port, then you should verify that the Microsoft ActiveSync software settings are correct. To do this you open the Microsoft ActiveSync window on your desktop and go to File --> Connection Settings and verify that the box that allows infrared connection is checked and the IRDA is selected.
* Change the angle of the unit and make sure that there is nothing interfering with your signal.
* Try removing the LCD protection cover.

What kind of Drivers? USB sync Drivers or Orinco Wi-fi Drivers? Try here for USB to Computer Drivers if you have Windows XP: http://hpcmonex.net/nec900/files/soft/nec/activesyncusb.zip. The full CD contents that come with the Mobilepro can also be downloaded from the same page. For Wi-fi Drivers, I THINK the Agere Wi-fi Drivers will work, although I may be mistaken. Try them Here: http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/h/0031.asp
And any MiniUSB cable will work with the Mobilepro
Recent version's of the HOTSYNC app have a provision for IR transfers (older versions may not though). So you should check the HOTSYNC app on the Visor and see if it already has IR transfer abilities.
If it does:
Use the downarrow to specify the IR transfer on the Visor. Setup HOTSYNC on the computer to accept IR transfers. Line up the ports and tap the HOTSYNC button on the Visor's display.
If it doesn't:
You may be outta luck. Downloading an updated version of the HOTSYNC app (or some other utility) won't help because you'll need to Sync in order to get the app on the Visor.
The Pocket PC 2002 software allows you to transfer files over to the MobilePro P300. Please look under "Synchronization" in the Getting Started Guide for details on your particular situation.
You can avoid having to completely re-set your personal settings by using the back-up utility pre-installed on your MobilePro P300. To do so, tap Start --> Programs --> My Settings and tap Backup Utility and follow directions to back-up personal settings onto a SD or CF card. You may also use your desktop Microsoft ActiveSync software to save your MobilePro P300 personal settings onto your PC. To do this you open the ActiveSync window on your desktop and go to Tools --> Backup/Restore and follow instructions.
Decrease the Front Light brightness while the MobilePro P300 is on battery power. To do so, tap Start --> Programs --> My Settings and tap the Front Light icon. Click the "DC" tab and decrease the brightness level to the desired level.
Tap Start --> Programs --> My Settings, tap Wakeup Icon, remove the check mark from "Recorder Button", and tap "OK". The record button will not work when the MobilePro P300 is off.
The P300 has 3 kinds of reset mechanisms, 1. Soft Reset: you can keep all DRAM data.
Procedure: Push the Reset button
2. Hard Reset/Save SDRAM -- Use hard reset/save SDRAM mode to reset the MobilePro P300 without losing the data in SDRAM. Use this mode if the safe software reset mode doesn't improve system operation.
Procedure: Reset Button and Power Buttons at the same time.
3. Hard Reset/ Clear SDRAM: You will lose all data. Use to reset the MobilePro P300 and delete the contents of SDRAM. Use this mode to reset the MobilePro P300 to its factory defaults. This is also referred to as a hard reset/clear SDRAM. **Caution** This procedure will delete all user installed applications and user data. If necessary, back up your data before performing the hard reset.
Procedure: Push the Reset, Power, and Record Buttons at the same time
