Likely a foreign object is blocking up the grinder. Remove all beans and run at coarsest grind to try to clear it, chase it through with more beans if necessary. If this does not clear it then the top burr of the grinder assembly can be removed after disassembling the machine. Mark the grinder coarseness cogs before moving them to assist reassembly. Moderately difficult procedure.

SOURCE: Grinder turns, but despite being

Hi
Sounds like you have a blockage in you grind passage. Try removing the brew group. Then inside on the roof of the machine above where the brew unit sat, there is a drop chute where the coffee is dropped into the brew unit. From the left side of the drop chute pull down and back towards the center of the machine, and it will drop coffee. This will clear an opening that relieves pressure on the passage. There is a passage inside the drop chute area that goes to the grinder. Vacuum it out. It will be on the right side of the drop chute.
Once that is cleared go to the bean hopper. There is a lever under the bean hopper. Push the lever back to the largest number. You can push the lever to a larger number any time, but it has to be grinding to pull to a smaller number. Now replace everything and make your coffee. Once you have made your coffee you can pull back to a number that was higher than the one you had it on, but only when the grinder is running.

Testimonial: "Great tip....found that it was clogged w/ ground beans & part of the foil pack??? inside the chute. Now delivering coffee.thanks heaps"

SOURCE: Coffee machine Delonghi Magnifica grinding function not working

There are two reasons for this usually. Either the grinder is jammed or the grinding wheel or wheels have broken. Your machine needs to go to a repair shop to be looked at.

SOURCE: DGB-900bc will not grind

I experienced the same problem after many uses. You need to pull the hopper off and clean out the path the grounds take to the filter basket. It is no doubt clogged up. I used compressed air to really clean it out good.

Good Luck

Delonghi magnifica evo never stops grinding coffee beans

Ground coffee beans can squirrel their way into hard to reach places in a grinder and cause problems. I think it is clogged with grounds. Remove the beans. Reseat the burr (grinder). Reset the adjustment ring to 3. Lock itin place with the silver handle. Reinstall the hopper and beans. Here is a tutorial on more advanced cleaning and maintenance: You can skip the ad. Delonghi magnifica S is making clicking noise when grinding beans and error symbol appears when coffee should be poured. On turning off and on it no longer does the rinse cycle as well

My Delonghi Magnifica was making a ratcheting /clicking noise when it should have been grinding. No coffee grind coming to diffuser, display showed '' Add more Beans''. I used vacuum cleaner to suck up the residual beans from the hopper and used wooden skewer to poke out any beans at top of the grinder. Did not solve. I then removed the protective hood over the inlet to grinder and used vacuum cleaner to remove all grind. With inspection light I could see a foreign object stuck in the grind. It was stuck fast. Using pointed noise pliers I was able to rotate the inner grinder in the reverse direction which released the object upwards and then gripped by PN pliers. Turned out it was a piece of plastic from the bean hopper lid which had broken off near to the front hinge. All working again and we're getting our fix nia.... AM McCooey

Poured water in my delonghi magnifica beans hopper.

Have you tried grinding a few cups of uncooked rice through the mechanism to see if this will shift the dried on coffee grounds. It worked for a friend of mine after several attempts

Makes funny noise when I try to grind coffee and no ground coffee comes down into the handle. Seems like something is stuck in the grinder.

if you hear it trying to grind, but is not, or hear it spinning and is not grinding, more than likely it is blocked, or so oily that bean will not drop. Coffee beans, have so much oils in them, that after a while it gets caked up, and beans either get jammed, or stuck. If you hear grinder low humming, then it is probably stuck or clogged, if it is on but hear like a spinning sound, beans are not dropping, because they are stuck because of oil build up. If you can get to the grinder, turn machine off, unplug, get all beans out, take like a wooden chop stick and put it in area where beans go and move the chop stick around the gears. you like your reaming it out kind of. turn machine back on, try this procedure a few times. ( MAKE SURE MACHINE IS UNPLUGGED WHEN DOING THIS) As said early if it is a low humming, like motor turning but jammed, do not use until jam is fixed, you will burn up motor, then have more expensive fix. Let me know if this helped and solved problem. Mr Bean Man from Fixya

Attemps to gind but no beans seem to get through Then the display indicates 'add beans' although it is full

Machine thinks there are no beans because it is not grinding. Most likely the grinder is blocked. The common causes are a small foreign object, a stale hard bean and moisture (either from water spillage or moist beans). The first thing you should do is vacuum ALL the beans out, set it to the coarsest grind setting and run the grinder a few times ( with no beans). Then put a small amount of fresh beans (make sure they are dry and not from fridge or freezer) in and try again. Give it a few goes. If it still wont grind have a good look down there, if it looks wet let it dry out for a while and try again. If none of thes easy tips help you will have to remove the top grinder burr and clean both burrs. Good luck.

The machine makes a very loud noise when grinding the coffee beans. * Magnifica Espresson Machine *

Even a properly operating super automatic DeLonghi espresso machine makes enough coffee grinder noise to scare your pets and wake you next door neighbors. It's LOUD, no doubt about it. Only if your grinder makes more noise than that do you have a problem.

Machine has major problem with grinding beans.

Try removing all beans from bean holder - then use a vacumn machine to remove the bits down amongst the grinder "teeth'. You may have had a small stone in your coffee and if so it may have jammed the grinder.

Once it looks clean, try making a cup of coffee without the beans in the hopper - you should be able to see and hear the grinder revolving and also hear the brew unit moving between the grinder outlet and the water inlet. If it all seems ok now, then add a small amount of beans back into the beans hopper and try making a coffee. If it still will not work, get it serviced. There's not much the average person can do inside these units other than to do more serious damage or kill themselves with an electric shock.

Grinder runs with NO beans inside

Fill beans before they run out!
If you hear the grinder running empty, press the same button you pressed to start making coffe to cancel the current cup -or, if some beans were ground, stop the water a bit earlier to make a shorter coffe using the same method (press the button you pressed to start the cup). The auto-detect of beans missing is a very minor and largely useless feature.
