The PDR-3300 works with MMC and SD cards. Your new 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work in the camera. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.
Does a different card work in the camera? Can you read the card on your computer with a card reader?
and...check the little slider thingy on the side of the SD card, flick it up, try it, flick it down...try again. check the SD slot on the camera, anything stuck in there? lint? dust? sand? Blow it out with canned air.
Eliminate the card as a problem...hope it's the card then worry about the camera.
Each camera have maximum memory card to be readable. If the memory capacity is to high from the limit, the camera will hard to write the data inside the card and said that "card error". Try to insert memory card with lower capacity (4 or 2 GB) and read the user manual to know optimum memory card for your device.
Assuming this camera uses SD card, you may have set the card to "write protected". On the side of the SD card, there's a little slider that prevents accidental erasing images.
did you purchase the correct 8g sd card ? sometimes there as different types of SD cards. Make sure where you purchase the card that it's for the phone and not for the camera
