Friday afternoon I was copying some MP3s over using Drive Mode. I had successfully ejected the drive and had clicked to cancel Drive Mode completely when I got a strange error box: "Are you sure you want to format this device? All data will be lost." Well, I very carefully and surely hit "Cancel"! When I opened P-tunes, I couldn't see my MP3s by any method. I figured they were in the "wrong" place, so I switched to Files AND SAW NOTHING!! No files, no file structure, and FileZ saw nothing too. I was horrified. I attempted to restore from backup. No dice. Sync would only go so far. I tried mounting the LD by Drive Mode. No way. Horror continued. Finally, I decided I had forgotten a good way to troubleshoot: I soft reset and BINGO! All were back, including the MP3s. I figure what happened is that after my Mac had unmounted the LD, the PalmOS failed to remount it. That's just a guess. Anybody have this happen to them?
Yes! soft reset and all was fine but looked pretty grim for a moment. Happened to me when i put the SD/LD icons into the trash (mac osx) before I hit the first 'turn off drive mode' page rather than hitting 'turn off' button, then trashing the icons, then hittinf turn of drive mode button. Is this in the manual....nope!
