Question about Dell Vostro 410 Desktop Computer

1 Answer

Hello, I upgraded the Dell Vostro 410 BIOS from version 1.0.1 to 1.0.3; the upgrade was successful. Now the computer does not boot. No monitor display from the BIOS starting up and the keyboard num lock does not toggle. Looks like the BIOS is dead. Do you know the way to recover the BIOS? Thank you, Allan

As far as I understand there is no way to recover it self the dead BIOS, You can only send it to Dell Service Center and get new Bios chip.
Maybe you need to reset CMOS, to make sure the BIOS is dead or not...

Dell optiplex 745 stuck in THE configuration after upgrading to Pentium 4 processor. and i cant get access to the bios heddin 2.6.6

P4 what, what does its lid stated, P/n FULL
only P4HT works here, not P4 older than 2003 sold.

so let me guess, you didnt ask DELL first.
for a list of processors this motherboard supports.
and the other processor (unnamed) works? (2nd shoe drops)
Didnt upgrade the BIOS first, so it can support a larger list
of qualified Dell Processors?
RTC coin cell fresh, not dead,? 2.9vdc minimum.
Dead BIOS is wrong processor, or bad RAM.
assumes good monitor and PSU.
and both fans spin, PSU and CPU.
not running CPU nake,d no heat sink and fan is (super bad choice)

steps not taken.
1: ask dell first. (dah factor 1, we are not dell)
2: tell Dell what P4, it is (it has a full number on top that you forgot to state.)
3: upgrade bios if dell tells you it does this version of P4, and id does not? then back to P4 store for correct P4 only DELL told you can work.
"called the qualified Processor list" only dell has. ok.?
4: install it correctly, with heat sink, thermal grease and fan.4557c396-1c63-42c2-bb2c-741976dcca76.jpg

The A03 is for now the latest version for the BIOS of Dell Dimension 3000

And a tip for you: upgrading bios is only necessary when real issues occure and the computer doesn't work properly.

Please let me know if it helped

How to update BIOS ? Laptop geting over heated a lot and performance low !

Rebootyour computer and watch the opening screen. Right below the progressbar you will see the BIOS version number. Write this down to verifythat you need to upgrade.

  • Start InternetExplorer (the Dell website uses ASP - Active Server Protocol, which isnot supported in Firefox.) Navigate to "". Click"Technical Support" at the top of the screen. Click "Support for HomeUsers" or "Support for Business Users" as appropriate. Click "Drivers and Downloads".

  • Lookfor your computer's service number. This can be found on a tag attachedto your system. If you have it, click "Enter a Tag", enter the numberand click "Go". If you cannot find it, you can click "Find my servicenumber" to have the Dell website find your number.

  • Scanthe list of drivers and other upgrades. You can filter this list byselecting "BIOS" in the Category drop-down menu. Note the versionnumber of the BIOS listed. If it is higher than the version number youwrote down for your computer, you will need to perform the upgrade.Click "Download" next to the BIOS listing. When prompted, select "Save"to save the download to your desktop or another temporary destination.Exit Internet Explorer when the download completes.

  • Makesure no other programs are running. Double-click the BIOS upgradeprogram you downloaded. You will be prompted twice to confirm that youwant to upgrade the BIOS. When the program completes, the system willautomatically reboot to load the new BIOS. You can verify that you havethe new version by watching the initial boot screen. When the upgradeis complete, you can delete the downloaded upgrade program.

Windows 7 upgrade, lost sound driver how do i restore 4 free?

The D600 is not listed as Windows 7 compatible, meaning that Dell Support does not have drivers available. See their knowledge base article 10106R8LSJ here:

That said, provided you have a BIOS upgraded to A15 version - if you don't, you can fetch the upgrade here:
    - some people have had success using the downgraded Audio Driver for Stac 9750 Sigmatel version You can find it here:

    Hope this helps.

Can I upgrade my CompaqMV720 computer from Windows ME to Windows XP? If so, how?

I would think that you mast likely can do it. You need a Windows XP disk with a legitimate install key (or Microsoft will give you a hassel). When you are ready to upgrade, turn on or restart your computer and press [Delete] to enter the BIOS. Go to the Boot menu and change the boot order so that your CD/DVD drive is first.
Open the drive and put Windows XP disk in. Press the F10 key to save the changes and exit. when the computer restarts, it will provide several start options. Choose the one that will install Windows XP. From there you just follow the prompts.

Update Dell Vostro 1000 BIOS now wont turn on, nothing on display

You may be in for some trouble, a failed bios update isn't always an easy fix. if you can find the cmos battery try to remove that for a few seconds. you will also need a disk version of the bios, download that from dell on another computer and copy it to floppy or cd and see if you can boot to that and reinstall the bios.

when you press the power button what happens, does it light up and run the fan? Nothing appears on the screen?
