If the laptop
battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.
Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and
will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and
gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The
battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery
drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an
unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.
Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged
state for long periods.
Chances are the batter is bad. Did you just purchase the notebook? You may want to try swapping the battery in your laptop with the other laptop you tested the adapter on. If you do need a new battery, here is a link
Good day, please double check your adapter. Maybe your adapter is defective. If not you need to go to the nearest service center. Maybe your laptop has an internal problem w/ the power. tnx
Hello, if on XP, go to control panel and open up 'Power Options' and look to increasing the 'Running on batteries' settings.
However, you don't say whether it will power up without the mains connected...if it doesn't then maybe you've a bad/poor battery connection, ie it will display a voltage to the monitoring system, but won't allow any current to be drawn....this could be due to a bad connection so it may be worth removing the battery, taking a look at the connectors (maybe wipe them clean) and then refit and try again.
Best of luck

Sounds like you have a problem with your battery in the laptop. When the power fails, you should have several hours of battery life even 'in the dark'. If this is not the case then you should consider a replacement battery. Here is just one of many sources for replacement batteries:

You should also ensure that the charger is working when the power is on. When you go into Windows click on START --> CONTROL PANEL --> POWER SETTINGS. You should see an area where it will tell you if the battery is being charged, is fully charged or is not charging at all. If the power supply isn't working, here is a source to get a replacement for that as well:

Restart the notebook and check. If the issue still persist, disconnect the power cord, take out the battery, press the power button for 30 seconds to drain out static electricity.
Connect the battery back and turn the notebook on and check, if the issue is still there your notebook needs a repair. The screen has gone bad, the graphics chipset is good as you are getting a display on your TV.
