The issue is with hardware of the printer.
Scan feature is most expensive and sensitive part of the printer.
I suggest you to contact HP support. If the printer is under warranty you may get a replacement printer or else they may give you a better option.
If not on warranty you may try this workaround:
- With unit off, press the 'Cancel' (pink button) and 'Color' (green button).
- This will start the printer in a diagnostic mode. Press '1' to run the diagnostics.
- Press 'Enter' or other keys as directed by the display prompts. When you don't know what to press, the 'Enter' key usually works. Some of the keys called for (for example 'Plus' and 'Minus') are not on every psc 2210 keyboard. They are mapped to one of the "directional" keys just above the numeric keypad area next to the 'Enter' key. Keep trying keys till one works.
- After all the diagnostics, the display will either go blank or display 'Initializing...' . Wait 10-20 seconds to make sure it isn't doing anything else then press the 'On' key.
The printer should start without the scanner error and the grinding/chattering noise.
Leave the printer on because the next power cycle brings the chattering noise back.
But, when it does, the procedure above seems to fix it every time.
PSC 2210 scanner failure HP Enterprise Business Community
UGHH I have the same problem...I try to scan a picture and it keeps saying the scanner is busy etc..I can't do anything with it right now!!
SCANNER FAILURE is the message I keep getting and I am trying to print from the computer. I turn it off and unplug. Plug it back in and turn it on but same message keeps coming up.
I have the same issue with it saying scanner failure. The power supply is not the issue.
Power comes on, scanner starts initializing, clicking starts and I get a message to shut down. Any ideas?
i have the same problem & its not the power supply . i have plugged it in alone in the direct socket & it still does the clicking & says scanner failed .does hp make another printer that uses 56 & 57 ink cartriges ? i already have 6 or 8 of them so i need another printer that uses them .
