I have a toshiba pdr-m81 and when i try to take pictures i keep getting a messege that says "card protected" i have tried everything. i am not sure if it is the smart media card or the camera....help

if your camera has a media card.. (SD/MMC/Compact flash/MicroSD///etc..) remove the card from the camera and use that to transfer your media to your pc... to find a cord you would want to go to toshiba's website and look for a cord from them.. or take the camera to your local electronic store and ask someone there .. it might be a low cost mini usb cord that they supply... good luck
Hi there Face the card towards you, look for a small white tab on the left hand side of the card, to unlock it push the tab down, it will be at the side of the card like this . Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!
It takes a SmartMedia card, up to 64mb, no internal memory. You should go to Toshiba's home page though and upgrade the firmware for this camera. It's free and can be done by downloading and running the latest version of the camera's software. This gives the camera the ability to recognize SmartMedia cards up to 128mb, but I'd upgrade whether I planned on using a card that big or not.
I have that same camera along with the installation cd, but I haven't used it in a long time. I ran across it today and tried to get some pictures off the card but I can't get it to work with this computer which has XP MCE sp3 on it. I guess I need new driver for xp but can't find where I can download it. What operation system do you have?
The manual says, "SD Memory Cards having the following storage capacity can be used on your camera (Toshiba PDR-3330): 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, and 256MB"

Use the resolution button on the top of the camera by the LCD display. One button is for selecting Flash. One button is for the self-timer. The middle button is for resolution. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the options.
