What's the model no. of your phone? What is the operating system (OS) of it? Did it came with a sync CD? How do you want to sync your phone (is it via USB cable or via Bluetooth)?
If you are trying to sync it using a USB cable, make sure that the sync software (the CD that came with the phone) is properly installed in the computer.
After installing it to the computer, connect your phone to the USB port of the computer and launch the sync icon on your phone.
Select the item(s) that you would like to sync (E-mail, Calendar (Events), Contacts, Tast or Notes). Make sure that everything's properly configured like the server path and the server mode.
If you find that the server mode is set to "Normal", try setting it first to "Slow".
